About Aura Rascón

Aura was born in Mexico City, where she began her flute studies at the National School of Music of Mexico. At age 17, she received a scholarship to live and study at the United World College, Mahindra College in India for a two year’s period, where she completed her high school education and had her first encounter with Indian Classical Musi through an introduction to Dhrupad (the oldest form of Hindustani Classical Music) singing with Pdt. Uday Bhawalkar.

After India, she moved to Bulgaria to start her formal education on traverse flute at the National School of Music of Bulgaria and later at the National University of Sofia ‘St. Kliment Ochridsky’ where she completed her flute and music pedagogy bachelor studies. During these 5 years time in Bulgaria, she studied traverse flute under the tutelage of Maestro Georgi Spassov, a student of Jean-Pierre Rampal and first flutist of Sofia’s philharmonic orchestra.
After completing her studies in Bulgaria, Aura moved to the Netherlands to continue her studies in classical flute at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Harrie Starreveld.

A year later and after a fortunate meeting with Bansuri (Indian bamboo flute) maestro Pdt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Aura joined CODARTS, Rotterdam Conservatory where she completed a second bachelor and a master degrees in Bansuri and Hindustani (North Indian) Classical Music. She has also studied in the traditional guru-shishya parampara (master-disciple tradition) with her Guru in India at his Bansuri ashram ‘Vrindaban Gurukul’ in Mumbai.
She has been active nationally and internationally as a soloist and as a member of different ensembles as well as a teacher.

The flute is the symbol of spiritual call, the call of divine love - Hariprasad Chaurasia

Really impressed!

Its been a few weeks since I started my music journey with Aura Rascon. I am a beginner to the music (Bansuri). Aura is patient and explains things very clearly. She gives more importance to the techniques. I feel it is really important for me as a starter. Within few weeks, I really see some good improvements. Also It increased my confidence to use the instrument. Really impressed with the tips and techniques. Along with the techniques if we have some good practice, I am sure we can see some good results. I am really glad to have her as my Guru!
