Violin - Versatile and Fun!
Hi, my name is Bela, an Utrecht based experienced and enthusiastic violin teacher, and it is my mission to show you just how much fun playing the violin can be. That is to say - as long as you want to play violin, you will always be welcome on my lessons, regardless of age and level!

A lesson in the comfort of your own home? Your wish is paramount and I am always happy to saddle my motorbike and help you out in your own living room. In addition, you can also choose to have lessons at a spacious house just 5 minutes away from the UMC in Utrecht, with plenty of public transport options in place.

Beginner to Advanced
Playing the violin for the first time in your life, or are you an intermediate violin player and seeking ways to take your playing to the next level? Are you an adult who either want to start or want to take up the violin again from where you left off at school? Trying to make your mind up to take the plunge?
The Tool Box
It isn't much fun playing with a painful wrist whilst sounding like a cat being dragged down the highway. That's why I insist on taking special care when teaching all the ABC's. After all, once you're all set on those, it's really up to you to make up the words. If you like practising, playing around with your instrument and sorting things out, you will have fun along the way.
What to expect?
Personalised exercises and teaching materials, basic to advanced bowing techniques, progressive studies, classical repertoire, vibrato and expression techniques, intonation, interpretation, reading music, and improvisation, all to help you create that wonderful sound you violin can make!
Classical - Folk- Jazz - Electro
Although classical music definitely is a wonderful source of inspiration and joy, many of you will end up looking across borders. Lucky for you, I happen to be a regular traveller and can't wait to show you the way. Scottish Folk, Jazzing it out, or just wiring up a bunch of pedals - I'd love to make you familiar with it all.
Rhythm and Sound
Western music education locates its "Achilles' heel" in the teaching of rhythms. That's why I love to spend a great deal of getting you ready on your sense of time, pulse, timing and rhythmical phrasing. It is also a challenging trajectory and will serve your brain immensely in the long run. Next to this, of course, we'll be focussing on tone quality and body awareness to create a relaxed and healthy posture
Me? A Composer?
It really goes hand in hand: the playing, the reading of musical symbols, and the writing thereof. A basic understanding of musical theory and composition is of essence for your development and here as well, I wish to help. But perhaps, more importantly, let's get that music played as well!
Alright! So you play in a string quartet, or you've joined a rock band.... It's going to happen sooner or later that one of you lot will want to record some music and end up getting stuck on the wiring. This - alongside the arts of mixing and mastering - is a useful skill to learn and I have all the equipment to teach you with.
Chamber Music - Orchestra
The art of playing in ensembles starts with experience. That's why I love to play duets with my students in order to prepare them for the challenge. In addition, conducting basics and collective performance techniques will be covered during our lessons so that soon, you too will fit into your ensemble like a sock in a shoe! Bring your orchestra parts for tips and tricks about bowings and fingerings!
I started playing violin at the age of three and ended up spending the first 15 years of my life as a classical musician. I studied at the University of Vienna and later decided to continue with my studies in Amsterdam where I studied Jazz composition and music theory.
Nowadays, I am engaged in a large variety of musical activities; I write music for film, play in various bands and set my foot on big stages around the continent. In addition to this, I love teaching and sharing the knowledge that had been passed on to me which is why I hope to be able to pass it on just as much!
