Hello! I'm Luciano Poli, a friendly and enthusiastic bass teacher and Jazz bass player in Rotterdam area. Although traveling from stage to stage, I'm ready to help you out to understand the instrument, develop an excellent technique so you can play any music you like! Let's have fun!

Double Bass  - Beginners - Advanced

Are you new to the bass world and you want to learn how to play? Or you are already experienced and you wish to become a better bass player and take your groove to the next level? Whether you are just starting to play, or you are an intermediate musician, I will help out by consolidating your knowledge and moving forward.

Trial Bass Lesson

During the trial lesson we will get to know each other a bit and talk about what kind of music you like to play. We will take time to put focus on your wishes and create the best program to achieve your aims.

I have always listened to all kinds of music, and I love pretty much all of it. Paul Chambers, Ray Brown, Christan Mc Bride, Ron Carter... too many to list them all. I am happy to share with you what I have learned from them!

Music Styles

No music without a bass line! According to the music you like I will help you acquire the proper skills to master it. I have been busy playing and studying different styles of music for more than 25 years, from Classical to Jazz, Blues, Latin, Pop, Funk and more!

What can you expect?

You'll learn to read sheet music and we'll work on intonation, sound, bowing technique, pizzicato (plucking), improvisation, music theory, solo's, interesting walking bass lines, time keeping, and a deep understanding of chords and harmonies.

Do you want to come to my studio in Capelle a/d IJssel or do you prefer to have the lessons at your place in Rotterdam area? No problem!

About Me

I started to play bass when I was 16 and began my formal studies at the age of 18 in my native country Italy. In 2004 I moved to The Netherlands to complete my studies in the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with a Bachelor and Master degree in jazz double bass. Since then, I am fully booked with live playing and teaching. This is my one and only occupation. During all these years I have earned a lot of experience which is very supporting when it comes to teaching my students.
