I am Berta Mariana, methodical, patient and enthusiastic Utrecht based violin teacher. I love to guide you in this adventure! 

Why Music for Children?

If all parents would know how much music lessons can do for their child! How learning music can improve their skills in math, memorisation, and listening. How playing an instrument also helps young brains to develop, motor skills and coordination.

Private Violin Lessons

My one-on-one lessons for children are fun and wel structured. They learn to read music, basic music theory, and to play their first easy songs and duo pieces!

Violin and Yoga!

I'm a Yoga and Alexander Technique lover and I believe that healthy posture and body awareness contribute enormously to become a good violin player. I will help you to develop a comfortable and natural posture, to allow you to improve your general body posture, violin playing and well being.

Beginners

You'll be encouraged to make music from the very first day. Together with some necessary music theory, always applied to the instrument, you'll learn to read music and pieces of gradual difficulty. We make use of progressive tuition methods and you'll learn a solid technique by playing scales, bowing and fingering exercises and easy tunes to begin with. Repertoire includes etudes, playful and challenging concert pieces and from the very beginning duos to play with me!

Advanced

Based upon your own wishes and goals I will elaborate a plan for the lessons. We will be focusing on learning and developing your playing  in a calm, methodic and healthy way, making you feel each day more comfortable and confident with it! We will focus on advanced technical aspects, sound, vibrato, repertoire and interpretation.

Orchestra - Ensemble

Playing together is very important to develop your sound, intonation and rhythmic skills. Enjoy your creative and artistic growth! Besides having a wonderful time sharing beautiful music together, this will give you a lot of knowledge, in case someday you would like to join an amateur orchestra or an ensemble, you will be ready!

About Berta Mariana Sequeira 

Berta Mariana is a portuguese violinist, currently based in the Netherlands. She started playing the violin at age 10 and developed her studies in the National Conservatory of Music in Lisbon, the National Superior Orchestra Academy in Lisbon and the University of Arts in Castelo Branco. Inspired by the cultural atmosphere of the Netherlands, decided to move to Utrecht to deepen and enrich her musical knowledge, through the master studies with the violinist Eeva Koskinen, in Utrecht Conservatory. Berta Mariana is an orchestra and chamber music violinist and often plays with orchestras and ensembles such us: Portuguese Chamber Orchestra, Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquestra sem Fronteiras, Ensemble MPMP, Almada Chamber Orchestra, Nieuwe Phillarmonie Utrecht and Libero Strijkorkest. During her time in Portugal, she was awarded in solo and chamber music competitions and performed as a soloist with the Orchestra from the National Conservatory in Lisbon.
