My name is Ward Reijmerink, I am an experienced professional guitarist and enthusiastic guitar teacher in Amsterdam Oost. I teach both young and old, first timers and old hands, everybody is welcome to join.

Passionate about Guitar!

Would you like to learn to play the guitar and don’t have any musical basis yet. Did you use to play guitar and would you like to get back in the game? Are you a more advanced guitarist and would like to play more easily, or to dive into the classical repertoire, or learn Spanish, Folk and Flamenco techniques?

Bespoke Guitar Lessons

We will discuss the goals that you have in mind and we will compose a personal curriculum. The joy for playing and music is key during my lessons. We will only dive as far into music theory as you prefer, or as is needed for your development.

Novice

You will learn finger picking, different chords, scales, strumming, to read notes or tabs. I will teach you some basic music theory and you will learn to develop a good and relaxed posture. Soon you will be able to play simple songs or beautiful classical pieces.

Advanced

Do you want to increase your knowledge of classical music and refine your performance? To get your technique and musical interpretation to a higher level, or to dive into flamenco techniques such as rasgueado’s and alzapua’s? We can work on expanding your repertoire, so eventually all the classics, from Albéniz to Rodrigo will be within reach!

Lesson Structure

A guitar lesson for adults is 45 minutes. Children usually take lessons of 30 minutes. The first half of the class we pay attention to technique, the second half we will work on pieces that you or me have chosen.

Children and Guitar

In the lessons for children I often like to use call and response, as to get acquainted with the guitar in a playful manner. In this way it won’t be long before they are able to play their first song. Fun in playing is most important! I will look after fun and diverse repertoire.

Chamber music and Ensembles

Are you looking for someone with years of experience in playing together and coaching ensembles? From groups with singers, to guitar duos and trios or bands. I can get your duo or guitar ensemble to a higher level, to inspire you and to provide you with numerous tips from practice.

Conservatory

Do you have the ambition to apply for a conservatory? With two conservatory degrees, I know what is required for a successful audition. We will develop an suitable repertoire and work on the proper skills. We will work on solfeggio exercises and harmony theory, so you won’t be put for surprises.

Studio - Location

I teach from my music studio in Amsterdam Oost. From there we also have the possibility to make high quality studio recordings, for instance for an audition or a video clip on YouTube or TikTok.

About Me

Since many years I have worked in the music industry as guitarist, arranger, composer and band leader. I finished my bachelor degree in classical guitar at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and my Master of Music degree at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. In the meantime I am also working as music producer and mixing engineer. I have lots of experience in many different genres, from classical music to pop and world music.
