Hi I'm Christian Doepke, Amsterdam-based all-round pianist and piano teacher: Are you just getting started playing piano, or do you already have a lot of experience? Looking for improvisation and/or Jazz piano lessons in Amsterdam?

My Piano Studio or at your Home in Amsterdam

I give the lessons at my private studio In Amsterdam. Occasionally lessons can be arranged to be at your home in Amsterdam West - East - South - Center. I am flexible when it comes to teaching hours and venues. With 5 or 10-lesson ticket strips, you can take lessons when it suits you.

Intermediate - Advanced Pianists

I have extensive experience in teaching piano to young people and adults who want to specialise in jazz, pop, fusion and improvisation. I love sharing my passion for music and the knowledge I gained as a keyboard player, pianist and composer in the past 30 years!

About the Piano Lessons

Would you like to learn how to play a pop song or jazz standard on the piano as a soloist, or with a group or combo? Or how to transcribe a song or solo? Or are you a songwriter who wants to learn how to accompany yourself on piano? Discover how to improvise over chord changes and songs. I will provide practical tips and work with you on technique, sound and timing.

Piano Basics - Beginners 

As a beginner, you will learn the basics of playing piano through reading notes, effective exercises, improvisation, working out songs on YouTube and playing by ear. I have developed my own teaching style and use a number of piano methods.

Play the Songs You Love

In addition to tunes from a piano book, you will learn the chords and melodies of your favorite pop songs or easy jazz standards. You will also learn to play freely and become increasingly skilled in playing without sheet music, with the help of simple technical exercises. We will get started with improvisation!

Piano Lessons for Children with ADHD and/or Dyslexia

We will primarily work in an auditive and visual manner, making it easier to follow the lessons. At the end of each lesson, you can film exercises and will receive the video footage and sheet music through e-mail. If you experience problems with sheet music, you can watch the videos and memorise songs while listening.

Piano Lessons for Children

In my lessons for children, fun in playing comes first. It is vital, that they enjoy attending my classes, have fun playing and practicing at home and are eager to learn new songs.

Theory, Arranging, Solfeggio

In addition to piano lessons, I also offer other disciplines, such as music theory lessons, solfeggio, rhythm, harmony, composition and arranging. Recommended for students who want to prepare for jazz / pop music entrance exams of conservatories.
