Bass Lessons for Children and Adults

My bass lessons are for beginners and advanced. of all ages. Never too late to start with bass! Children from age 8 on can learn to play the double bass. If you don't have an instrument yet, a small bass can be hired.

Mini Bass

New techniques in the violinmaking branch have made it possible for extremely small (¼ or even 1/8 size) double basses to be built. Best choice for younger children to start on a small instrument.

First Lessons Bass is Best!

You'll learn a solid musical and technical basis, some music theory, bowing and pizzicato technique, reading music and.. fun in playing the bass! We use the modern teaching method Bass is Best by Caroline Emery (UK). In no time you'll play some easy songs in the music style you like best!

Advanced Bass

The obvious choices for double bass players are classical, folk or jazz. The material covered during lessons is tailored to your musical taste and needs. With personalised exercises and motivating instructions you'll develop a better sound and you'll improve your intonation, bass players' challenge for life.

Bowing for All

All double bassists will be required to practise (even if just a little) with the bow. Experience has taught that this is essential for achieving good intonation

My Bass guitar lessons, which I teach as well, will focus mainly on pop, fusion, world or latin music. Want to try?

Playing in a Band ?

Playing together with other musicians is a must, especially for bass players. I can help you find a group and give band coaching if desired.

Hi, I graduated as Master of Music at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and I have several projects as a composer / arranger and bassist. In addition to an active life as a musician, I also teach the following subjects to to all levels and ages: Double bass, music theory / composition & harmony at the piano: In English, Spanish, Catalan or Portuguese. I'm an all-round Jazz bass player and perform in international Jazz festivals with various groups.
