Early Childhood Music Lessons (<4 Years)

Playful music lessons for young children! Fun and instructive! The lessons are structured around musical games and present basic musical concepts to your child.

Discover Music!

In the Music and Play Studio the young children go on an adventure, with all the musical treasures that around them. They play drums, piano, guitar, ukelele and sing a long. And more! Teacher Carmen always connects with the rhythm, needs, energy and passion of your child.

Individual or small groups

In the Music and Play Studio the children are free and able to explore music. The lessons are vivid and interactive, with improvisation and funny exercises. The children learn about instruments, sounds, tones, melody and rhythm. Making music contributes to the personal, social and locomotive development of your child!

During the lessons in the Music and Play Studio often new forms are created in contact with the children themselves. Here a few:

Music Picnic

We are having a music picknic: in the middle lays a little rug with instruments and cuddly toys. If you want, we will drink a lemonade or tea. We take a closer look at all the instruments and find out what they sound like and how to play them. A cosy gathering and a musical adventure in one!

Write your own Song!

We will be making a song of our own. Carmen writes her own songs and loves to work together with children, making songs. The kids will top it with a nice drawing!

Music Islands

We build music islands! The children make up their own islands, with self-made names, with self-made sounds and instruments. We travel around. A true spectacle!

Make your own Drum Kit

Also nice: Your child is invited to make his or her own drum kit with various drums and percussion instruments. This exercise combines sound, fantasy and rhythm. When the drum kit is created: let's jam!

Pick an Instrument - Learn the Basics

Children can choose to learn notes and chords and play little songs on different instruments. Per example on the piano, recorder, xylophone, ukelele or guitar. Positive experiences lead to building ones will to get to know an instrument better.

Ukulele Lessons for Children and Adults

The ukulele is a fun and easy instrument to learn to play. Music connects many skills and gives us a beautiful and nice way to express ourselves. In my lessons the starting point is fun and your own way of exploring and growing. You learn to play and sing (pop) songs that you like. And you learn about proper posture and different ways to play (strumming patterns, finger picking and guiding yourself while singing). Read more about my fun Ukulele lessons in The Hague.

About Teacher Carmen

Carmen van Haren is a singer and performer and plays a lot of different instruments. In her early years she studied accordion and developed herself as a composer/singer of a pop band, playing in the pop scene. Nowadays she performs with the music duo Katakat. She sings and play accordion, guitar, ukelele en drums. She also performs spoken word. Carmen made several cds. Based on poems of Inez van Leeuwen, she recently made a childrens songs cd "Ik wou dat ik zo zwemmen kon", with vocals and ukelele. She developend herself in the area of theatre by studying professional theatre courses. She taught music and drama lessons to children and gave coaching to young adults.

Practical

Beforehand there is a phone call to become acquainted. We make an appointment for a trial lesson. After the trial lesson you can choose for a strip card of ten lessons.
