Emine Bostanci Kemenche Lessons in Den Haag

Kemenche - Lyra Lessons

Looking for a smooth encounter with music from Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, Persia and Azerbaijan and struggling to find a teacher in the Netherlands? Do you want to discover the magical world of Maqam and Soufi music? Want to learn Classical Kemenche/Lyra or take your playing to a higher level?

Maqam, Folk or Soufi Music?

Hi! I'm Emine Bostanci. As an expert on World Music, I had considerable accumulation on Maqam, Folk and Soufi music. During my musical journey from Istanbul to the Netherlands, I have been aiming to be a cultural ambassador. Here I am, I would love to share my passion, accumulation and expertise with you!

The Hague - Amsterdam

I offer comprehensive, encouraging and motivating Kemenche /Lyra lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced players. Lessons are held at my studio's in The Hague and Amsterdam. Lessons at your place are occasionally possible.

Beginners

Learning and exploring a new instrument or music genre is always fun! With my method of teaching, you will feel yourself on a smooth and inspiring journey. Modern education methods will be used, based upon many years of teaching experience. Lessons also may cover reading music, basic non-Western rhythms and basic maqam theory.

Advanced

Intermediate and advanced students may want to explore specific styles. You will learn more about traditional ornaments, various finger styles, bow and plactrum techniques, improvisation, repertoire and theory. You will learn how to perform as a soloist and as a band member. And no worries, I will be always your duet!

Improvisation

Learning to improvise in modal system is like starting to speak a foreign language. By taking the modal\makam improvisation lessons you will be able to play, understand and recognise various makam scales and ornamentations. You'll learn to develop the melodic structure on those scales from different parts of the world, such as the Balkan, Turkey and the Middle East.

What more?

We'll focus on how to develop understanding of the right basic structures, building blocks and necessary elements. How to communicate with the other players in order to play and improvise flawlessly together.

Face to Face and Online Lessons

Let's enjoy the music you like best! I offer both online lessons and, preferably, face to face live lessons. Book a trial lesson.
