Hello, I am Federico Forla. Welcome to my profile! I am a professional oboist and oboe teacher in The Hague. I have an international career in both modern and historical oboe performance and experience teaching students of all ages and levels, It is my passion to inspire you in your personal journey with this amazing instrument.

Singing on your Oboe

Whether you are just starting with the oboe or you are already an advanced player, I'm sure that this awesome singing sound is what we all like so intensly about the oboe. We have wonderful melodies, effective exercises, classical and popular music, by famous composers, to develop the skills you need to play beautifully and to explore the diversity of sounds and styles.

Oboe Classes for Advanced Players

We never stop learning, especially in music. Whether you have a specific goal or just want to continue improving your oboe skills, I can coach you on technique, musicality, and orchestral/chamber music/solo repertoire. My goal is to provide you with all the knowledge and skills you need to become an independent musician, enabling you to understand and perform a wide and diverse repertoire in various musical contexts.

Historical Oboes

The main focus of my career is to combine performances on Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern Oboes, using the right instrument for each repertoire. My knowledge in musicology and historically informed performance practice will help you navigate between different styles and repertoires, providing a holistic understanding of the oboe and its use in classical music.

Reeds

The reed is one of the most crucial aspects of the oboe, creating and influencing the sound, style, and ease of playing. My experience in reed-making will help you better understand how to make your own reeds and adapt them to your own playing style.

Want to learn?

I gladly explain, show, teach and guide you in your first steps of reed-making. If you don't make your own reeds, I also sell personalised reeds.

About Me

I'm an Italian oboe player with an active career in both historical and modern oboe performance. I perform with several orchestras in Europe and worldwide, such as the Orchestre de Champs Elysees, the Academy of Ancient Music, the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, Bremer Barockorchester, the Metropole Orkest, the Residentie Orkest, and more. I also work as a producer and artistic director of several Dutch-based ensembles and orchestras and am active in the fields of musicological and organological research, with a focus on the development of the oboe and reed-making techniques between the Baroque and Romantic periods.
