My name is Inez Popko and I am a Polish pianist with many years of teaching experience in an international environment. Music plays an important role in my life since I was a child, and it still does! Are you picking up the piano after a break, intermediate or more advanced pianist and seeking ways to take your playing to the next level?

Classical Music - Baroque to Contemporary

Are you interested in playing classical music, from Bach to contemporary composers? Let's explore the baroque, classical, romantic and contemporary styles!

Piano Classes - Intermediate Level

You will learn the proper posture, hand and finger position so that you will have a good foundation for playing nice pieces. We work on  a better coordination of your hands and create a pleasing and varied sound. You will learn how to use the piano pedals to add more dimension to your playing. You will be gaining insights about some music theory along the way.

Piano Lessons Advanced

We will play technique exercises aiming at good finger coordination and velocity, gradually building confidence throughout different keys. We will pay attention to refining your interpretation of a given piece and focus on artistic qualities of your playing: expression, emotion, engaging the listeners. We will be attentive to tone quality and phrasing as well as correct use of the wrists for different kinds of articulation. You will also learn some valuable tricks that make a pianist's life easier: anticipating jumps, patterns recognition and so on.

Piano for Children to Adults

I offer lessons to children between 7-12 years old, teenagers and adults, especially those who already have had some experience and wish to develop further, whether accomplished beginner, intermediate or advanced.

ABRSM Piano Exams

I encourage my students to participate in local ABRSM or Trinity music exams to mark their progress and keep up the motivation to improve their playing.

Passionate about Music!

I am very involved during my lessons, ready to demonstrate or play along. The lesson typically starts with some warm up exercises suited to your needs and level, and the core of the lesson is dedicated to music making and repertoire.

The lessons can be arranged at your place in Den Haag (Archipelbuurt, Willemspark, Centrum, Zeeheldenkwartier).

Online Piano Lessons

Online lessons via Skype are available as well.

Chamber Music

I am also happy to coach an ensemble, whether a duo or a bigger setting. Just like in a conversation, the ability to listen to others while being involved in a discussion is essential. Ensemble playing is a wonderful opportunity to train this ability and more.

About Me

I have performed as pianist in Europe and in China. As a Pole, I have a special affinity with the music of Fryderyk Chopin from which my fascination with piano began. I graduated from the Royal Conservatories in The Hague and Brussels and I hold two Masters in Music degrees. I have been teaching piano at European School in Brussels, Piano Academy in Amsterdam and currently British School in The Netherlands. Many of my students have passed their piano ABRSM exams with distinctions and continue developing their playing skills as well as their music appreciation.
