Loving the Sound of the Violin?
Moved by a beautiful violin tune or classical concerto? Want to play a movie tracks or fiddle songs? I’m Lavinia Balasu, experienced violin teacher and concert violinist. My background is classical, but we can do pop, jazz, sound tracks or world music too! Both adults and children, beginners and advanced, are very welcome.

Fun in Music
Enjoyment in practising is important and you’ll experience this in class. This makes you motivated to pick up and play your violin more often. Playing your favourite music stimulates brain functions, multiple skills, emotional intelligence as well as musicality and makes you practise with pleasure. You’ll immediately notice your progress!

What to expect
With the best of modern and traditional teaching materials and methods, personalised, fun exercises and songs, you’ll quickly learn a solid foundation. You’ll learn to read notes, music theory basic rhythms. A lot will be learned by ear and I will regularly play something for you. We’ll play simple duos in class.
Do you want to be able to play the most difficult passages from your orchestra parts or chamber music more smoothly and freely? Like to bring more emotion into your music, feel more secure and focus more on the musical lines? Increase your expressivity, self-confidence and technique under the guidance of an experienced concert violinist. In class I pay a lot of attention to style awareness, musical analysis, basic theory and historical context. With special exercises, you’ll develop a nice vibrato, smooth shifts, left-hand and right-hand technique, and you’ll be working on tone shaping, intonation and expressive interpretation. Curious? In addition to beautiful classical solo repertoire, you can very quickly play together with others or in chamber music ensembles. I will gladly encourage you to find fellow players and guide you through the preparations of your orchestra or chamber music parts and scores.
ABRSM and TRINITY
Throughout my teaching career, I accumulated, with my students, a rich international portfolio of successful admissions to prestigious Music Colleges and Universities, as well as numerous distinctions in the ABRSM and TRINITY examinations, in violin, viola, piano, music theory and practical musicianship. Also, my students won several International Violin and Piano contests.
In addition I also teach music theory and harmony. Preparation for admission to the conservatory.

About Dr. Lavinia Balasu
Surrounded by beautiful music, I started violin and piano lessons at the age of 3 :). I am a professional violinist and violin teacher/professor and graduated from the conservatories in Bucharest, Weimar and Genoa (BMus, MMus, PhD - summa cum laudae) and attended numerous master classes in the USA, Germany and Switzerland, Italy, France among others. I performed, as a first violinist with Philharmonic and National Opera House Orchestras in Europe, as well as in solo and chamber music recitals all over Europe and Asia, and taught at the National University of Music in Bucharest, EU. “Music unlocks our inner beauty and builds bridges between souls”. Both in my concert practice and during teaching I remember these words every day! I try to convey the love of music and the pleasure of creating beauty in every lesson!
