Hello, I am Ülkü Atabay, a professional musician and experienced passionate piano teacher in Rotterdam South. My studio is located in Rhoon. My private piano lessons are for children and adults. All levels welcome!

Piano Lessons for Children

Most children love music and I make sure that your child's piano lessons are engaging, interactive and fun! Through musical games, singing and creative exercises your child will develop a strong foundation in reading music, rhythm and we will discover the piano with fun teaching materials. From the very first lesson we will play and sing together. The lessons can be given in Turkish.

Beginners - Adults

Never had lessons before? Or are you starting lessons again after a break, and do you feel like you have forgotten a lot? No problem! The lessons offer posture, hand position, ear training, music theory, and you play your favourite classical or popular pieces. Reading music is introduced gradually, if necessary. We play Quatre Mains, which makes the lessons fun, musically inspiring and educational!

Effective practice methods

I help you develop smart and effective practice habits, so that you make fast progress and stay motivated. With the right approach you will be playing well-known classical and contemporary pieces in no time! Having a good time when you practise is the key to success!

My extensive music library offers many beautiful, well-known and perhaps unknown compositions to expand your repertoire. The best motivation to refine your piano playing and deepen your musical expression!

ABRSM Exam Preparation

For students who wish to take ABRSM piano exams, I offer structured training to develop performance skills, technical proficiency, knowledge of music theory and aural skills. The best preparation for a successful exam.

Languages and Locations

Lessons are available in English, Turkish and Dutch. I teach at my home in Rhoon. Depending on the location, home lessons are also an option upon request. Let's start your musical journey together!

About Me

With a background in opera, piano and trombone, I have dedicated my career to both performing and teaching. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Department of Opera Voice, and a Master's degree from Baskent University State Conservatory, where my thesis, Orientalism in W.A. Mozart's Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail, was published in Turkish and English by Paradigma Akademi.

I have worked as a teacher of choir, music theory, Orff, piano, and voice at the Early Music Education and Music Program for Adults at Bilkent University. In addition to my teaching experience, I am the producer of The Horai Podcast, where I explore various aspects of the history of music and culture. My teaching approach is deeply personal, with an emphasis on technical development, musicality, and the joy of making music.
