Living in Roterdam and want to learn play the piano from scratch? Have you been playing already some time and looking for a fresh approach, motivation and inspiration? I'm Mijin Kim, a patient and motivating piano teacher in Capelle a/d/ IJssel. My piano classes are open to children and adults.

Beginners
Tuition materials for beginners cover classical piano basics, pop-songs, body awareness, ear training, easy songs, basic music theory, reading notes and fun exercises. Having fun is the best motivator to practise regularly. Therefore your favourite music is what you'll be playing! Pop songs, Jazz or latin? Book a trial lesson!
Young Children
My piano classes for young children are fun and cover music basics and an introduction to playing the piano in a relaxed and supportive environment. They learn to read music, clapping, singing and with playful piano methods and fun exercises a solid basis of piano playing.
Advanced
The piano is an amazing instrument which allows you to enjoy playing music all by your self in a wide variety of music styles. Want to learn to improvise? Along with the basics of improvisation you will want to learn some music theory to help you know what your options are and how notes, chords and rhythms work together to create great-sounding music. Jazz - Pop - Improvisation
Personal attention, personalised exercises, body awareness and professional advice for best results. We will work on musical expression, jazz etudes, jazz standards and pop music, scales, chords. You'll learn to play your favourite music with an outstandig technique and gradually develop more freedom in improvisation and a thorough control and understanding of the piano.
Lesson Location
I address the lessons in my cosy studio in Capelle aan den IJssel. No problem to get there with OV ! Ocassionally the lessons can also be arranged to be at your own home.
Flexibility and Fun!
Many adults and teenagers prefer the flexibility of the 10 lesson card or 'Strippenkaart’. You never lose a lesson!
About Mijin Kim
Mijin started playing classical piano at the age of five. She began studying pop and jazz style at the age of eighteen completing the courses in both Soong-Sil Conservatory and Seoul Jazz Academy.
She completed her professional education with a Bachelor and Master degree achieved in The Netherlands. During her Master studies, she recorded and released her first album (End of the Line – 2014). She has worked as piano teacher since 2003: her last job position was at the Seoul Jazz Academy.
She is currently playing and teaching in the Netherlands.
