Hello, I'm Paolo, all round trumpet player and dedicated trumpet teacher in Rotterdam. In this dynamic city I give inspiring, fun and funky trumpet lessons to both beginners and advanced. All genres possible.

Starting out or advanced?

Are you new to the trumpet, picking it up after a few years off and looking for inspiration and motivation? Or advanced trumpet player seeking ways to polish your skills and discover new repertoire? My teaching style is very natural and relaxed; my goal is to enable you to express your musicality effortlessly, with fun and with ease.

Beginners

We build a solid foundation and you'll learn the essential breathing technique and a daily routine, in order to create this awesome trumpet sound! You'll learn to read music and basic theory.

Daily Routine

The trumpet is a beautiful but also demanding instrument. My lessons offer an excellent help in setting the foundation for a trumpeter's daily routine practice, focused on core fundamentals like articulation, posture, legato, staccato, finger technique, proper air usage, buzzing, flexibility, range and tone quality.

Trumpet for Children (from 8 years)

Looking for fun trumpet lessons for your child? My lessons for young musicians offer enjoyable learning with playful methods and fun exercises. Your child learns a solid technique and to read music, while playing fun tunes and their favourite music.

Cornet

For parents seeking a lighter option than the trumpet, the cornet is a fantastic alternative for young players. Expect a nurturing and encouraging atmosphere that fosters a positive and engaging musical journey for your child.

Advanced students

Explore the art of improvisation and delve into the musical and the personal aspect of it. Warm up, play along with music, discover the intricacies of Jazz, Pop, Blues, Funk solos by analysing and replaying. More knowledge of harmony and chords, improvisation and breathing technique. Let's have fun!

Improvisation - Music Theory - Real Book

In order to improvise interesting solos and gain a deeper understanding of the music you play, I integrate music theory, ear training, solfege, rhythmic training and basic piano into my lessons. Discover the freedom of scales. Pentatonic scales can allow you to play more by ear than by thought, and to focus on tone production, rhythm, and creating melodies The minor pentatonic scale is essential in blues and very prominent in jazz improvisation. 

Trial Lesson

We'll spend some time discussing your needs and expectations, and we'll find out at what stage you are in your trumpet playing by trying out some material. If you have something you've played recently or are currently working on, feel free to bring this to the lesson. We'll work out what times are best for the next couple of lessons.

Studio in Rotterdam - Lessons at your Home

I give the lessons at my Rotterdam studio near Marconiplein, but I am open to the possibility of teaching at your location. Additionally, online trumpet and music theory classes are also available

When starting out, choosing what trumpet to buy can be confusing and sometimes stressful! I am happy to give advice and accompany you to a music shop, to ensure the choice you make is right for you.

A bit about Me

I completed my Bachelor's degree in Jazz Trumpet at Siena Jazz University and later moved to Amsterdam, where I completed my Master's degree in Jazz Trumpet in 2022. I have had the opportunity to study with several well-known teachers and to explore various genres and music styles. I regularly play in small groups and orchestras/big bands at important jazz festivals in Europe and America.
