Are you just starting to play guitar? Or are you more advanced and want to improve your technique, getting inspiration from an experienced and enthusiastic teacher? I am Pierre Jonker and besides performing I enjoy giving guitar lessons.

I have different electric and acoustic guitars in my home studio in Hoograven, Utrecht, where lessons are given. There’s free parking in front of the house! It’s also possible to have lessons at your home! Book a trial lesson.

The lessons are about the kind of music you want to play, whether it’s your own songs, the latest hits or jazz standards! Practical tips will help you improve.

Personally, I get my inspiration from listening to Steely Dan, Queen, Peter Bernstein, Jim Hall and Metallica.

Beginners

We’ll make a tailor-made lesson plan based on what you want to learn. You’ll work on building good basic technique and we’ll spend time on chord knowledge, tabs, playing solos, accompaniment, improvisation and some theory.

Advanced

You’ll start getting more out of your technique and will notice that you’re playing smoother and with more feeling. I am very versatile and I’d like to guide you to deepen and develop in all styles. Want to try? Book a Try-out lesson!

Playing together - Improvisation

We’ll play together in the lessons Blues, Jazz or Pop, working on improvisation. As a result you’ll develop your musical skills, listen better to other musicians and play more freely and communicatively.

Record yourself

Do you want to learn how to make your own recordings using a program like Logic? I can teach you the basics and when you’re ready for more we can dive in!

About Pierre

I studied guitar at the Conservatory in Utrecht with Eef Albers. My love for jazz grew during my studies. I had lessons from Onno Kelk and Peter Bernstein. I now play in various bands and perform regularly during festivals and concerts. Besides the Roseland Quartet I play in jazz duo PierreRoos and jazz rock band Steely Fan.
