Hello! I am Pierre Jonker, all-round performing guitarist in Utrecht. Looking for a friendly and patient guitar teacher foir your child? Just picking up the guitar for the first time yourself? Or are you more advanced and want to improve your technique, get inspiration from an experienced and enthusiastic teacher?

Trial Lesson

The trial lesson is the perfect opportunity to get to know each other and discuss your goals and wishes. You will get an impression of the lesson location and we will discuss the lesson times, the convenience of the Lesson Packs, your guitar, your favourite guitarists and music styles.

Personally, I get my inspiration from listening to a.o. Steely Dan, Queen, Peter Bernstein, Jim Hall and Metallica.

Lesson Location

I have various electric and acoustic guitars and teach from my home studio in Hoograven, Utrecht. Free parking in front of the house! It’s also possible to have lessons at your home!

Beginners - all ages

Based on what you want to learn, we create a tailor-made lesson plan. You work on good basic technique and we pay attention to note reading, chord knowledge, rhythm and timing, tabs, playing solos, strumming, fingerstyle, comping, improvisation and basic music theory.

Advanced Guitar Lessons

You’ll start getting more out of your technique and will notice that you’re playing smoother and with more feeling. I am very versatile and I’d like to guide you to deepen and develop in all styles.

Rent or buy a Guitar?

If you don’t have your own guitar yet, you can borrow one of mine for the trial lesson, and I will help you find a good one to buy when you’re ready.

Folk - Blues - Pop -Jazz - Songwriter

The lessons are about the kind of music you want to play, whether it’s your own songs, the latest hits or jazz standards! Practical tips will help you improve.

Improvisation

We’ll play together in the lessons, Blues, Jazz or Pop, working on improvisation. As a result you’ll develop your musical skills, listen better to other musicians and play more freely and communicatively.

Recording yourself

Do you want to learn how to make your own recordings using a program like Logic? I can teach you the basics and when you’re ready for more we can dive in!

About Pierre

I studied guitar at the Conservatory in Utrecht with Eef Albers. My love for jazz grew during my studies. I had lessons from Onno Kelk and Peter Bernstein. I now play in various bands and perform regularly during festivals and concerts. Besides the Roseland Quartet I play in jazz duo PierreRoos and jazz rock band Steely Fan.
