Enjoy Playing Piano - Keys
Are you about to take your first piano lessons or do you want to pick up playing again? Do you want to improve your flexibility and speed on the piano, and play chords with more accuracy? My name is Victor Weigand, all round keyboard player based in Utrecht. I'm there for you if you seriously want to improve your piano skills, but also for different key instruments.
Fender - Wurlitzer - Hammond
Take for example a Rhodes or Wurlitzer. Or if you really love the Hammond organ and possibilities with that instrument, like I do. Also if you are more into synthesizers and sound design, let's dive into it. All these key instruments have their own role in various musical environments, and that's what makes them unique and interesting!
Styles - Funky Stuff
Whether you're into Pop music or Jazz, I'm your guy. You're also welcome for more Funky and Soul kind of styles. And last but not least, if you love Easy Listening music, I can help you improve your playing and improvisation skills.
With fun contemporary piano-methods, songs and exercises, the basics of playing piano will be soon within your reach. You'll learn to read music, rhyhtms and basic music theory. A solid foundation will give you the flexibility of pursuing any music style with ease!
Personalised exercises help increase your agility and dexterity. This will benefit directly to expression and transfer of your musical ideas! Now it's time to really dive in to the music you like best.
Learn to play rhythmically, how to choose which voicing you wish to play and what's going to be the overall sound of your improvisations, solo's and compings.
We'll focus on the strong and weak spots of the instrument you play on. Sometimes certain sounds will work perfectly well on a song and sometimes they just won't. A Rhodes can be a bit boring, but put it through a Leslie speaker and it suddenly shines! These are a few examples. Let's explore!
Music is a language on its own, with music theory being its grammar. Getting more insight in music theory (Harmonic/melodic structures, phrasing, rhythms, keys, chords etc.) will make it easier to speak the language, communicate with other musicians and will enable you to learn new songs faster. Reading scores or lead-sheets, naming chords or intervals right, understanding how to approach, or alter when you're more advanced, make you a versatile musician and band member.
We dive in DAWS such as for example Logic Pro. We'll listen and analyse mix and arrangements off existing productions. We'll zoom in on how to make sounds with hardware synthesizers or completely in the box. It's a plus when you own your own DAW at home, to be able to work further on things we start at the lessons.
I teach the lessons from my own studio. The lessons can also be arranged to be at your home. The trial lesson will always be at my home studio in the center of Utrecht.
The lesson card of 10 lessons offers you maximum flexibility. You'll be able to take lessons at moments that are most convenient for you.
I started playing the piano when I was very young. It didn't take long before I started taking lessons from an old jazz pianist. Eventually I ended up at the Conservatory of Utrecht and I studied there for 4 years with teachers Ge Bijvoet, Bert van den Brink and Randal Corsen. I graduated in 2013 and have been building my musical practice since then. I currently play in different bands and projects, such as: Jared Grant, De Raad van Toezicht, The Night Flight, Alpaca trio and many more. I also record piano or key parts for productions in my home studio. As a producer I mainly work from my home studio at (pre)productions.
