Piano Lessons - Jazz - Pop - Classical

Hi! Welcome to my page! My name is Rein Godefroy and I'm a jazz pianist and keyboardist in The Hague. I've been teaching multiple styles of piano including jazz, pop and classical for more than 20 years, to students all ages.

Beginner to Advanced Piano Lessons

Having fun is the most important aspect of playing music, and when combined with smart and frequent practise, results will come naturally! You'll learn a good posture, scales, chord changes, improvisation, reading music, relaxed playing, independence of motor skills, articulation, dexterity, sound and dynamics.

Solid Basis

Learn to play fluently so that you can play even the hardest pieces and solos with more freedom, creating the space to develop your own story.

Your Favorite Piano Music

I encourage students to study the genre they prefer, and I always adapt lessons to the personal interests and preferences of my students. What kind of music do you listen to? What's your favourite song/artist? Together we will go through the chord structure of different songs, building your repertoire and training your ear.

Accompany yourself on the Piano

Perhaps you are a singer and want to accompany yourself on the piano? It might be also fun to work more on rhythm and dynamics. Often during the lesson I will create drum patterns on the computer so you can play along with the pieces at home.

Songwriting and Piano

Or maybe you compose your own songs? In my lessons I offer the possibility to record and work on the form and structure of a piece, create bass, drums and other instrumental parts, and to work on production. When lessons are finished you will receive an audio file to continue working on your pieces yourself at home.

About  Rein

Rein Godefroy received his masters degree in 2007 (with honors) at TheRoyal Conservatory in The Hague, were he studied with Rob van Bavel and Juraj Stanik. Rein has been part of groups like the Paul van Kemenade Quintet, Fullduplexx, and singer songwriter TOINE. He has toured and performed in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, South Africa, and Egypt. In 2017, Godefroy released the piano trio album "It Will Come'' which was highly praised by the international press. He is also music composer for film and video games.
