Guitar lessons in Amsterdam West
Hello! My name is Thomas Beltsios. I'm a versatile musician and dedicated guitar teacher in Amsterdam. I graduated from the Conservatory of Amsterdam and have years of teaching experience, both at music schools and privately, to guitar students of all ages.
All styles
My lessons offer classical, jazz, blues, indie, rock, pop, funk, or any other style you'd like to play. I teach Spanish and electric guitar.
Trial lesson
In the trial lesson, we'll discuss what you want to do with your guitar and what your priorities are. Technique, writing your own music, improvising, or music theory? We can discuss it all. You'll also get a feel for my teaching style.
I'll have a guitar ready for your trial lesson if you don't have an instrument yet.
Beginners
The music you enjoy listening to is the starting point for our lessons. This means we'll work specifically with songs that you prefer. You'll learn solid technique, how to read music, tabs, and play by ear.
Advanced
My lessons provide an excellent foundation for experimenting and developing your playing while you enjoy playing! I'll give you tips to take your technique to the next level, at your own pace, effectively with targeted exercises and clear instructions.
What can you expect?
I offer music theory, playing with effects, harmonics, fingerstyle and picking, tablature, rhythm, and jazz harmony—from basic to advanced concepts.
Is improvising difficult?
Initially, it might take some time getting used to playing without music and tapping into your own creativity, but I have extensive experience to guide you through this process and help you get started with practical tips and advice. You'll learn to improvise with knowledge of harmony and structure, from a simple melody to a cool jazz or rock solo!
How will you achieve your goals?
Regularly practice scales, arpeggios, chords, develop your knowledge of your instrument, develop speed, fingering accuracy, and change positions. Discover the possibilities of gear and software on your guitar! A world of possibilities will open up for you!
About me
My first fascinating musical experience was at a young age when my father put on a Frank Zappa record that astonished and enthused me about the expressive power of music.
How did it all start?
At some point, I picked up the family guitar and started trying to understand how it worked. At 13, I took private lessons in acoustic and electric guitar and studied classical guitar for a few years at the Ionian Conservatory.
Education
After completing my studies in Audiovisual Arts at the Ionian University, my unquenchable passion for music led me to graduate from the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where I specialized in jazz guitar.
Who were my teachers?
I had the opportunity to study with renowned teachers such as Jesse van Ruller, Reinier Bass, Peter Bernstein, and Martijn van Iterson.
Even more passion!
My experience at the conservatory opened up a whole new world of possibilities that improvisation and research into original music brings. It only further fueled my passion.
Creative projects
I've been involved in various creative projects, such as leading my own bands, composing and performing music for theater, and music for children's performances.
