All Ages welcome!
I enjoy teaching children just as much as grown up students. Learning how to play an instrument is possible at any age, and research has consistently shown that the level of enthusiasm and the time spent practising is the deciding factor in the success of this endeavor.
Beginners
The ukulele is a great first instrument. It is easy to hold, has only four strings that are spaced rather widely apart, and can be played without much strength. Since it sounds since even when played without much experience, it encourages first-time players to practice and improve their skills. While adults can often play a simple song within the first two or three lessons, children thrive with a basic method book that shows them their first notes on colourful pages.
Advancing Technically
Once the basics are covered, you can also explore musical concepts such as playing in different keys and time signatures, more advances rhythms, and fingerstyle playing in their lessons. Beyond that technical studies, such as Hanon for the Ukulele are an option to get brainy about the instrument while challenging the fingers.
Composing/Songwriting
If you have thought of setting a text, poem, or idea to music but have no composition experience, then you could give songwriting a try during your lessons with me. I do have a master degree in musical composition.
Aloha
While there is a wealth of traditional Hawaiian repertoire out there, the ukulele can basically serve as a cover instrument for any style of music. I will ask you during your first lesson to compile a “wish list” of songs that you dream of playing. I will help you get there. Coordinating the voice with the instrument can be a challenge, but there are many ways of practicing these skills together during the lessons.
Relax and Enjoy
The ukulele is such a happy instrument, and feeling at ease and relaxed during the lessons is a priority. Oftentimes students chose the ukulele to bring moments of happiness and joy into an otherwise stressful life. Playing and singing songs (with your teacher) is a rewarding experience. You will carry the positive effect of music making through the rest of your week.
Correct Posture
Learn a correct and relaxed posture. The use of Alexander Technique can be a helpful contribution to achieve this!
Effective Learning Experience
Finding inherent talents and qualities and then nurturing them, while also addressing challenges in a reasonable and encouraging manner, paves the way for an effective learning experience. Enjoy structure and a consistent method in my lessons.
Fun First!
It is equally important though to not forget to laugh and to enjoy music during (most steps of) the process of learning an instrument.

About Me
I am a classical guitarist by training and discovered the Ukulele after I had finished my conservatory education. What started as something that was supposed to just be a bit of fun quickly became a real part of my musical life. I went on several tours in Europe and Iran with a project called Comet Ukecleus, for which I played electric steel string Ukulele. I then further explored contemporary instrumental techniques on this quirky little instrument. Teaching Ukulele has become an important activity in my studio and I enjoy teaching students of all ages and in various styles.
