Hello! I am Minas Vakaloudis, bassist, producer, and experienced and motivating bass guitar teacher in Utrecht. If you are looking for bass guitar lessons for your child, play in a band and want to polish your technique, or are crazy about playing bass and want to start lessons from scratch, you have come to the right place.

The music on your playlist is presumably the music you want to be able to play on your bass, right? We start with your favourite music and choose tailored exercises to learn exactly what interests you.(Including pop, rock, blues, funk, jazz, folk).

Personal instructions to develop a perfect left-hand technique in all neck positions, delving into various techniques such as slapping, playing chords, advanced funky bass patterns, licks, and solos.

Improvisation

If you think that learning to improvise is difficult, I would love to take on the challenge with you! With tips and targeted exercises, you will develop your own style. By listening to other bassists, analysing and imitating their style and the way they build up a solo, you will become more confident and learn to express yourself creatively in your music. I would love to guide you through this amazing process! This includes reading chord charts and mastering various (pentatonic) scales.

Location

You are welcome to my private lessons in my studio in the center of Utrecht, on the Oudegracht. 

Trial Lesson

Whether you have never played bass before or already have experience, the trial lesson will give you an idea of ​​my teaching style, we will discuss your goals and availability. I have an instrument ready for you if you don't have one yet!

Writing Your Own Songs

To be able to write down something you hear in your head, you need skills and self-confidence. I'll help you discover your creative side and develop your technical skills, insights, and knowledge to analyse songs, melodic structure, rhythmic structures, and harmony. All tools and skills you need if you want to compose your own songs.

About me

As a bassist, I have extensive experience playing blues and funk. During my conservatory years, I also played a lot of jazz! Now I enjoy playing with singer-songwriters. I love serving the song, even if that means playing just a few simple notes!

Started young!

I was born in Greece in 1994 and have been playing music since I was five. I attended a music school where I studied guitar, piano, double bass, and theory/harmony. I have been working as a professional musician since I was eighteen. 

Performances

Over the years, I have gained experience with live performances and by touring in Greece, Europe, and the United Kingdom.

Recordings

I spend a lot of time in the studio recording original music for various projects. In total, I have contributed as a bassist and/or producer to more than thirty albums, both for my own music and with other artists, such as Kiki Deirdre, Kinsmit, Nufaro, Deep in the Top, and more.

Education

In 2018, I moved to Utrecht to study bass guitar and double bass at the HKU Conservatory. In addition to my focus on the instrument, I am experienced in teaching in music theory, arranging, Alexander Technique, and pedagogy/didactics.
