About Accordion lessons
Accordion
The accordion is a versatile instrument and plays an important role in many musical genres. In both folk and contemporary classical music, the accordion's sound is unmistakable and characteristic.
Folk Music
The sound evokes Klezmer, Balkan music, Tyrolean folk music, the Jordaan district in Amsterdam, and nostalgic Parisian cafés. There are countless variations of the accordion: diatonic, button, or key. Whatever you prefer!
Bandoneon
The bandoneon's sharper sound brings us directly to the tango from Buenos Aires. But prominent contemporary classical composers have also written exciting and beautiful music for the accordion!
The accordion is a musical instrument that belongs to the free aerophone family.
How is the Sound produced?
The sound is produced by air flowing over metal reeds when the bellows are inflated or extended. Simultaneously, keys or buttons are pressed to produce different notes.
Different types of accordions
- Piano accordion: has piano keys on the right side and bass keys on the left.
- Button accordion has keys on both sides instead of piano keys.
- Diatonic accordion: plays different notes depending on the direction of the bellows (in or out).
- Chromatic accordion: plays the same note regardless of the direction of the bellows and offers more possibilities for complex music.
