Violin Lessons in Amersfoort - Leusden

Hello! I am Anthi Ioannidou. I am a professional violinist from Greece and a friendly, patient and passionate violin teacher based in Amersfoort. I love to teach children, teenagers as wel as adults!

Trial Lesson 

The trial lesson is the perfect situation to get acquainted and I'd love to hear you or your child play. I may have some tips for you already and you will get an impression of my way of teaching. If you have never played before and do not have a violin yet, I have a violin fready for you to play on in the trial lesson. I can advise you where you can rent or buy a good and affordable violin when you decide to start with taking lessons!

Your first lessons

A relaxed and flexible bow arm enables you to create a free and warm sound. Therefore, we'll look for the best possible position to hold the violin and the bow. You'll learn to place the fingers on the fingerboard and play your first tunes. With easy exercises you'll develop your musical ear and a proper intonation. Reading musical notation and basic music theory is part of the lessons. Enjoy your first tunes for two violins! It's fun!

Violin Lessons Children

Most young children like music and are eager to learn! With fun exercises and left -right coordination games your child discovers the violin in a playful way. Reading music is part of the lessons. When more familiar with teh violin we'll play tunes for violin and piano or for two violins. Playing together we do right from the start!

Intermediate Level

My personalised exercises and clear explanation help you to develop an excellent technique. The lessons offer playing in all positions, double stops, vibrato, sound quality, advanced bowing technique, chords and interpretation. My next level lessons offer wonderful etudes, sonatas and concerti by well known composers of the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern era.

How to practise effectively?

How would it feel when you don't need to struggle when learning something new? Of course patience and persistence are key when it comes to practising. It's not about repeating the same over and over again, but rather cultivating a 'problem solving mind' that gets you quicker where you want to be.  

• focus intensely on improving weak points
• divide complex passages in a difficult piece into smaller, manageable components, mastering each individually
• practise short and focussed

Baroque Violin

Does playing music of the 16th and 17th century on historical instrument sounds intriguing to you? Playing baroque violin enables you to come closer to the interpretation of composers such as Bach, Mealli, Vivaldi, Telemann or Corelli. I have a Master in Baroque Violin and would be very excited to share my expertise with you!

I teach the lessons at my cosy home studio in Amersfoort.

About me

I started the violin at the age of 8 and ever since the violin has been a loyal companion through all my life. I did my bachelor studies in modern violin graduating with distinction from Ionian University in Greece. After that I completed my Master Degree in Baroque Violin in the Conservatory of Amsterdam. 

Concerts

I have been playing concerts throughout Europe since 2013, mainly as a chamber and orchestra musician.  Parallel to that I frequently join Master classes and Seminars in order to stay up-to-date in the field of violin performance and teaching.
