Traverso Lessons in Amsterdam
Hey there! My name is Anastasia Vledouts. Are you in love with baroque or early classical music too? I offer music lessons on the traverso and other historical flutes. Whether you're just discovering the instrument or looking to refine your interpretation of early music, my teaching is grounded in both historical awareness and practical musicianship. I give the lessons at my studio in Amsterdam IJburg.
For Parents of Young Musicians
The traverso is a beautiful wooden instrument with a warm, expressive sound that encourages careful listening and a sensitive approach to music. Its natural materials and delicate tone invite children to engage with sound in a tactile, focused way. Playing it also teaches respect: it's an instrument to be handled with care, used to create something artistically meaningful. For musically curious children, it opens a thoughtful and imaginative path.
Bach, Telemann or Mozart
The traverso offers a direct connection to the music of Bach, Telemann, Mozart, and their contemporaries. It is especially valuable for flutists seeking deeper stylistic understanding--but it is also accessible to beginners, including adults who wish to begin their musical learning with a historically informed perspective. Lessons can be technical, exploratory, or both--tailored to what you're looking for.
Historical Flutes: Traverso and Beyond
My work with historical flutes extends beyond the baroque traverso. I also teach romantic flutes, including simple-system instruments and transitional models from the 19th century. Each version offers its own style, technique, and sound world. From early Renaissance flutes to the modern Böhm system, I help students navigate the full spectrum of historical flute playing, always with attention to sound, context, and expressive depth.
Experience and Perspective
My training includes studies at four conservatories across Europe, with years of masterclasses and international competitions shaping my approach. I've worked closely with leading figures in historical performance and bring that background to my teaching.
Advanced students
Whether you're seeking ways to explore new repertoire and discover historical back grounds, or are preparing for auditions, concerts, competitions, I offer guidance that combines detail with a broader view and personal artistic growth.
Location & Online Lessons
Lessons take place at my quiet studio in Amsterdam IJburg. It's a welcoming space, well-suited for focused work with these delicate instruments. Online lessons are also available. I use quality sound equipment to ensure a clear and effective experience, even at a distance.
The Traverso in Today's Cultural Landscape
The Netherlands has long been a centre of historical performance, with a thriving scene and high artistic standards. Here, music from earlier centuries is not just studied, but brought to life in performance, with authenticity, creativity, and skill. Entering this world means joining a vibrant community, with opportunities for ensemble playing and meaningful artistic exchange.
