Piano Teacher in Berkel en Rodenrijs – Classical, Jazz, Pop & Improvisation
Hi! I'm Vivienne, a professional pianist, composer, and experienced piano teacher based in Berkel en Rodenrijs. I teach classical piano, pop, jazz, and improvisation to children, teenagers, and adults.
Piano Lessons for All Levels
Whether you're a complete beginner, looking for a motivating piano teacher for your child, or wanting to discover new music styles while taking your playing to the next level, I’d love to help you enjoy the piano and find your own way of making music.
Where are the Lessons held?
You are welcome to my studio in Berkel en Rodenrijs. It is easily accessible from Pijnacker, Bleiswijk, Bergschenhoek, Nootdorp, Delfgauw, and Lansingerland, as well as nearby Delft, Zoetermeer, and Leidschendam. Looking forward to meeting you!
Piano Lessons for Beginners – All Ages
Learn the basics step by step, including reading music, rhythm, technique, chords, ear training, and music theory. And of course, we'll also play some real music that you actually enjoy.
Piano for Young Children
For young children, I like to keep lessons fun, relaxed, and playful. We learn through singing, rhythm games, listening, movement, and simple piano exercises, while naturally introducing music reading and basic technique. Every child learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to their age, personality, and interests. The most important thing is that they enjoy making music and stay motivated.
Classical Piano
If you'd like to learn classical piano (Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, etc.), we’ll work on technique, touch, dexterity, articulation, dynamics, musical expression, rhythm, and repertoire from different periods. I enjoy helping you discover and understand how musicality works, rather than simply learning the notes and playing them correctly.
Jazz, Pop & Improvisation
Have you always wondered how people can just sit down at a piano and improvise an awesome jazz solo or play a famous pop song? If you want to learn this or be able to accompany yourself while singing, I will help you build the knowledge you need while keeping the lessons connected to the music you love.
We'll explore:
- Music theory (chords, chord progressions, harmony, various scales, etc.)
- Jazz standards
- Pop songs
- Rhythm and groove
- Playing by ear
- Improvisation
- Creating your own arrangements
You don't need to be an advanced pianist to start improvising. Improvisation can actually be a really fun way to become more comfortable at the piano and develop your own musical style.
Advanced Piano & Conservatory Preparation
For more advanced students, we can go deeper into jazz piano: analyzing transcriptions of famous players, exploring deeper and alternative approaches to soloing, comping in different styles, chord substitutions, harmony, ear training, and practical tips for jam sessions and performances. I also welcome students who are preparing for conservatory auditions and entrance exams.
Trial Piano Lesson
Whether you’ve been playing piano for years or your child is just getting started, a trial lesson is a great way to discover what works for you.
Already an experienced player? A fresh perspective can help you take your playing further. Discover where you can refine your technique, musicianship, or repertoire, and see how personalized guidance can deepen your playing.
Is your child just starting out? A trial lesson is a relaxed introduction to the instrument. Your child can explore the piano, meet me, and discover how much fun making music can be.
Ultimately, a trial lesson is about one thing: discovering whether there’s a great fit between you, the piano, and me.
About Me
I started my musical training in classical piano and voice in Taiwan, and later moved to the Netherlands to study jazz piano. I hold a Master's degree in Jazz Piano from the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and have been working as a professional pianist and teacher for many years.
Besides being a jazz musician, I am an experienced ballet pianist. I worked with Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) for years, as well as other professional music and dance organizations including Scapino Ballet and De Dutch Don’t Dance Division. I currently work at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam alongside my private teaching studio.
