No problem! I will help you find a (rental) cello if you don't have an instrument yet.
Versatile
It doesn't matter whether you like classical music, tango or a beautiful pop song; the cello is perfect for playing beautiful, sensitive melodies, jazzy tunes, movie and game themes or up tempo baroque dances.
Beginners - Your first cello lessons
Learning a new instrument is always challenging. Of course, my approach is different if you start when you are 5 years old than when you are 70 years old. In any case, my intention remains the same; making music from the first note, so that you get to know the cello in a fun way. You will discover how to use the bow and where to put your fingers on the strings. You learn to read music , we play easy tunes and duos in class. Fun in music is paramount!
More experienced cellist?
You will further develop your playing with beautiful etudes, scales, performance pieces, vibrato, playing in positions, thumb position and various bowing techniques. Historical backgrounds of the composers you play give you more insight into the music you play. It contributes to your interpretation and deepens your musicality.
Orchestra - Chamber Music
Orchestra or chamber music parts can be particularly difficult. You can always take these to class! With practical tipsand personalised instructions you will soon be able to play the most difficult passages!
Advanced
You are really going for it on the cello? Super! If you are familiar with most of the techniques on the cello and find yourself playing high-level repertoire, training your motoric skills and reflexes with technical methods (Feuillard, Sevcik, Cossmann, Kreutzer), or new concepts like the exercises from Fritz Magg and playing etudes by Piatti, Popper, Duport, Grützmacher help you become an even better cellist!
Repertoire
Of course, there is this huge amount of fantastic repertoire you may want to discover. From pieces for solo-cello by Kodaly, Bach or Britten to solo concertos from Goltermann, Haydn, Klengel, Vivaldi, Saint-Saens, Elgar. My favourite category is chamber music. Pieces like the cello sonatas from Shostakovich, Prokofiev and Brahms can be a fantastic musical experience!
About Me
Maybe my name gives it away that my roots are German and Portuguese. I mainly grew up in Portugal. Coming from a musicians family I later moved to Germany to study at the music universities in Cologne and Dusseldorf (Bachelor and Master of music). I learned a lot about playing and teaching the cello in those years and I visited a lot of great concerts and masterclasses.
My Passion!
For me, the most wonderful thing about playing an instrument is to do so with other people, to make chamber music or to play in an orchestra. If I look back, the most touching experiences I had with music were always shared with others. It was also during a rehearsal on Brahms Clarinet Trio in the Conservatory in Lisbon that I finally decided that I want to become a professional musician!
