Find your own musical sound
Hello, I'm Ardashes Agoshian. I'm a composer, conductor, and experienced teacher based in Uitgeest, near Alkmaar. Drawing on my rich musical background, I'd love to help you discover your own expression on the piano.
For all levels
Have you never touched a piano key? Or have you been playing for a while and are you ready for inspiration, new repertoire, and a fresh approach to take your playing to the next level?
You're very welcome!
Whether you dream of performing on stage, want to refine your professional skills, compose your own pieces, or simply enjoy playing your favorite music at home, you're very welcome.
From classical to contemporary
You don't have to focus solely on classical music to study with me; curiosity and a love of music are enough. I'll help you develop a solid piano technique that will allow you to confidently play any genre, from baroque to jazz, from Scarlatti to Gershwin.
Beginners
If you have little or no piano experience, I offer a clear and supportive path to building skills and confidence. You'll learn to read music and gain general musical knowledge. With fun and engaging materials, you'll develop a smooth technique and real tools to become the pianist you want to be.
Advanced
For advanced students and professional-level pianists, I offer detailed technical and interpretive guidance to prepare for conservatory admissions, auditions, competitions, high-level performances, or professional recordings.
Whatever your starting point!
I tailor each lesson to your needs, with the right balance of challenge, inspiration, and support. You bring your curiosity and dedication, and I'll guide you further. Sound, technique and artistic expression
My teaching philosophy
- Healthy technique.
- Relaxed, expressive playing based on solid foundations (hand position, flexibility, articulation.
- Musical imagination, whether you're playing Bach or your favourite piece.
- Creative exploration, improvisation, explore composition, or create an arrangement.
Your personal Style
Every musical style, from classical to jazz, rests on one foundation: a healthy, fluid, comfortable technique. In our lessons, we work on your personal style and musical goals. I'm just as excited to work on a Beethoven sonata as I am to arrange a film melody or jazz tune for you.
Solid Basis
We work on posture, hand position, sound production, and flexibility, so you can play without tension and with a beautiful tone. With this foundation, you'll be ready to play any piece you love and avoid harmful habits or injuries.
How fragile we are
As a performing musician, I know how emotional, vulnerable, and powerful it can feel to sit behind the piano for others. I've performed on major concert stages like the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Royal Albert Hall in London, but I've also played at intimate gatherings.
More than Notes
I understand both the excitement and the joy of performing. That's why my lessons aren't just about the notes – they're also deeply human. We talk about musical story and feeling, and I make sure you feel seen, heard, and understood. Whether you want to play for yourself or eventually for an audience, I support your musical journey every step of the way.
Playing together
Making music is even more valuable when you can share it. In our lessons, we often sit together at the same piano (four hands) so you experience the energy and connection of making music together.
What to expect?
- Personal sessions that combine technique, interpretation, creativity, and enjoyment.
- Expansion of repertoire and music theory.
- A supportive environment where questions, curiosity, and authenticity are welcome.
Lessons with a Touch of Inspiration
Whether you're working towards exams or auditions, writing your own music, or simply starting out for fun, you'll find a warm, safe, and inspiring place with me. We can explore Bach's harmonies, experiment with a modern piece, train your ear for improvisation, or discuss the story behind a composition.
Lessson Location
Lessons take place in my music studio in Uitgeest. My studio is easily accessible from Alkmaar and surrounding areas such as Castricum, Heemskerk, Bergen, Heiloo, and Heerhugowaard.
Pleasant Atmosphere
The lessons have a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, taking place in a comfortable space where you can learn with focus and enjoyment. If desired, we can discuss the possibility of lessons at your home, online, or in Amsterdam.
About Me
I am a musician with a lifelong passion for music. My career has been varied – I have performed internationally (including at the Concertgebouw and the Royal Albert Hall) and composed over 100 works that have been performed in the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, England, Canada, the US, and beyond.
Versatile Artist
Besides composing and performing, I have conducted choirs, led ensembles, and worked as an accompanist for singers and instrumentalists. Music has taken me through many genres and cultures, and I bring that richness to my lessons. I was also a church organist and bandmaster for many years.
Education
I have completed several university music programs, including a doctorate, and am currently a professor at the Fontys Academy of Music and Performing Arts in the Netherlands. Previously, I taught at a conservatory and conducted a youth choir, giving me over thirty years of experience teaching and mentoring students of all ages.
Discover the Magic
Throughout all these experiences, one thing has always remained constant: my love of teaching. I share my knowledge with patience, enthusiasm, and care, because I want you to discover the same magic in music that has inspired me my entire life.
Curious?
Coffee or tea is optional, but the musical journey is always in full swing!
