I’m Harris Keramidas, a professional guitarist, composer and experienced guitar teacher based in Utrecht. From my fully equipped studio in Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn, I offer personalised jazz and pop guitar lessons for players of all ages and levels.

Guitar Lessons for Beginners and Advanced Players

Whether you’re picking up the guitar for the first time, want to become a better improviser, or are looking to develop your own sound, lessons are tailored to your level, interests and musical goals. You are welcome to learn on both electric and acoustic guitar. I believe good guitar teaching starts with what you want to learn, which is why I don’t follow a one-size-fits-all method.

Genres

My teaching is influenced by jazz, rock, funk, pop, Americana and blues. We combine technique and music theory with the music you actually enjoy playing, creating an approach that works for you.

Depending on your goals, we may work on:

• Guitar technique and fretboard knowledge
• Picking and fingerpicking
• Chords and comping
• Scales, triads and pentatonics
• Improvisation and phrasing
• Timing and groove
• Licks and how to practise them effectively
• Developing your own melodic lines
• Music theory and harmony
• Ear training and transcription

The goal is not simply to become a better guitarist, but to understand what you are playing and develop your own musical voice.

Your Playlist Comes First

Whether you love jazz, blues, rock, funk or Americana, we always start with the music that inspires and excites you. Your favourite songs and artists form an important part of the lessons. This keeps you motivated, makes practising more enjoyable, and encourages you to pick up your guitar and play regularly.

Improvisation and Guitar Solos

We explore why certain musical ideas, sounds and playing styles work, and analyse how the guitarists you admire approach their solos. You’ll learn how to listen closely, transcribe and understand what you hear, rather than simply memorising licks. This helps you develop your own ideas and become a more creative and confident improviser. 

Music Theory

We’ll also work on jazz harmony and music theory, so you can understand what is happening harmonically and use that knowledge naturally when improvising.

Guitars, Amps and Effects

Sound and guitar gear have been a major passion of mine for many years. That’s why my studio gives you the opportunity to experiment with different overdrive pedals, amplifiers, vintage speakers, volume pedals, delays and reverbs.
Together, we can discover which combination of guitar, amplifier and effects best suits your playing style and musical ideas.

Guitar Trial Lesson in Utrecht

Whether you’re a complete beginner or have been playing guitar for years, you’re very welcome to book a trial lesson. We’ll talk about your experience and musical goals, play together and identify the areas you’d like to work on. From there, we can create a personalised lesson plan that matches your level and ambitions.

There is currently no waiting list, so if we’re a good match, we can schedule your first lessons straight away.

Where do the Guitar Lessons Take Place?

Lessons take place in my fully equipped guitar studio in Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn. Guitars, equipment and teaching materials are available in the studio.

Prefer Lessons at Home?

Depending on my availability and your location, I may also be able to come to you. A small additional travel fee applies to lessons at your home.

Online Guitar Lessons

I also offer structured online guitar lessons for players of all levels.
This is a great option if you don’t live in Utrecht or simply prefer to take lessons from home. Online lessons are just as personal and focused, with sessions tailored to your goals in technique, repertoire, improvisation and musical development.

About Me

I was born and raised in Athens, Greece, where I discovered my passion for guitar at an early age. After studying Audio Engineering and working on various musical projects, I moved to the Netherlands to study jazz guitar at the HKU Conservatory in Utrecht. Today, I live and work in Utrecht as a professional guitarist. I perform in several musical projects, lead my own guitar trio and teach guitar with great enthusiasm.

My Musical Background

My musical background ranges from folk, Americana and acoustic guitar to jazz, blues, funk and rock. Artists such as Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, John Fahey, Nick Drake, Jackson C. Frank, Robbie Basho and Carter Arrington have had a strong influence on my musical development, as have iconic guitarists including Bill Frisell, Michael Landau, John Scofield, Jimi Hendrix and Tim Langedijk.
