Hey there! I'm Giannis, an all-round experienced saxophone teacher in Utrecht. Whether it's loud and crunchy, or soft and mellow, the king of wind instruments, the saxophone is a very fun instrument to play and, in fact, it's one of the easiest ones to learn! Express yourself in the most direct way by letting the air flow from within your body into your music.

Whether you're just starting out or already an experienced musician, want to play your favourite songs, prepare for auditions, improve your improvisation or simply enjoy making music, we'll create a learning path that keeps you motivated and challenged.

With over a decade of teaching experience, I'll help you build confidence, strengthen your musical skills and develop into the musician you want to become.

Saxophone Lessons - Beginners

Discover the basic techniques of blowing through the instrument and explore multiple fingerings on the keys. You will get acquainted to the instrument and demystify myths concerning the saxophone, such as needing to have "big" lungs to play it. Start with your first tunes and get the fundamentals of theory, rhythm and ear skills to get your first taste of the music-world!

Let's make it happen. These lessons are for musicians who are ready to push beyond the basics and take their playing to a serious level. Together, we'll sharpen your technique, build rock-solid confidence on stage, and develop a sound that's unmistakably yours.

Improvisation

We'll dive into improvisation, harmony, rhythm and ear training, while also fine-tuning your setup. From reeds and mouthpieces to horns, straps and harnesses, every detail matters when it comes to getting your best sound.
The goal isn't to copy your heroes, it's to learn from them, develop your own voice, and become the player others want to listen to.

Lesson Locations

The lessons are given at my home studio in Utrecht Ondiep or at my studio Oudegracht. I also can come to you. Buy a 5 or 10-lessons 'Strippenkaart' for maximum flexibility.

About Me

Music has been the core of my life for over 25 years, since I got acquainted with it through my first piano lessons. After that I discovered the guitar, the saxophone and many other instruments! Now I am a professional multi-instrumentalist in Utrecht, where I dedicate my life to playing, composing and teaching music. Read here about my guitar lessons in Utrecht.

Education

I am a graduate of the Musicology department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece with an integrated Masters' degree with a specialty on music education and I have also got a diploma in modern guitar through the Conservatory of Thermi, Greece. I have also studied the saxophone for 6 years in the Music School of Thessaloniki, Greece. 

Composer

I've released two EPs (The Siren, 2013, and Sunset, 2015) and a full-length album (Falling Leaves, 2020), all featuring my own compositions, lyrics, and arrangements. I've also collaborated on several recordings with artists such as Blebiru, George Avramidis, and Vasilis Petridis.

On Stage

I'm currently part of several projects, including Blebiru, Trio Tensegrity, Dig Dis Quartet, Tsop SKG, Wiseflower, Big Band van Utrecht, my own band, and I also work as a freelance guitarist, bassist, and saxophonist.
