Hola! I’m  Juan Domínguez, a friendly, professional saxophone player and dedicated saxophone teacher in Amsterdam. It is one of my passions to share my love of classical, folklore, tango and popular music and help you set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.

Saxophone for all ages

Picking up sax lessons after a break? Looking for a enthusiastic saxophone teacher for your child or yourself? Whether you’re a saxophone player in a band, a ten year old taking your first lesson, or a sixty nine year old returning to playing after many years; welcome!

Beginners to Advanced

Playing saxophone is fun and easy with the proper guidance of an enthusiastic and professional saxophone teacher. I balance musicianship and fun to make sure that each lesson presents new technical challenges, inspiration and motivation.

Trial Lesson

It is always nice to get acquainted first and discuss your plans for the lessons. The trial lesson is the perfect opportunity for this, and if you have never played before, we can try it out right away. If you have been playing for a while and want to take certain aspects of your playing to the next level or discover new repertoire, I would naturally love to hear you play. You will get an impression of my teaching style, and I will give you some tips and pointers that you can use right away!

Soprano to Baritone

I give lessons on soprano, alto, tenor or baritone saxophone.  I'll help you find the right sound you are looking for, to express your musical ideas and emotions in your favourite music style. 

Lesson Location

My studio is located in Amsterdam, de Pijp. Private lessons in Zaandam are also possible. Just let me know which location suits you best!

Breathing and Posture

Breathing and posture are key components when playing a wind instrument. Proper air support ensures that you have control over every note you play, so that you can create the right feeling for each song.

Advanced Techniques

Discover and explore often used contemporary techniques, to enrichen your sound and improvisations, such as circular breathing, double staccato, growling and multi-phonics.

I also offer fun, comprehensive and motivating online saxophone lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced. Live feedback and instructions.

About Me

I'm an Argentinian saxophonist that moved to the Netherlands more than 10 years ago. I have studied at the National Conservatory in Buenos Aires and after moved to Amsterdam to continue my studies with Arno Bornkamp at het Conservatorium van Amsterdam where I received my master's degree.

Chamber Music

I regularly perform with my chamber music ensembles that embrace a wide range of music genres, from Classical and Contemporary, to Tango and Folklore.
I have performed together with renowned artist such as Philip Glass, Lang Lang and Herbie Hancock.

Orchestras

 I have also performed with several dutch orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Het Balletorkest, Nederlands Kamer Orkest, Gelders Orkest and the Asko/Schönberg ensemble.

Teaching

Teaching has always been another passion of mine. I have more than 15 years of experience teaching to students of all ages. I'm regularly invited as guest teacher at het Conservatory van Amsterdam and Kubus (Lelystad). I have also given masterclasses and workshops in Poland, Georgia, Armenia, Argentina, Thailand and Singapore.
