Would you like to learn trumpet, improve your technique, or discover the world of jazz and improvisation? In my lessons, we work on a strong technical foundation while focusing on the music you actually enjoy playing.

Experienced trumpet teacher

I’m Dima Loginov, a professional trumpet player and conservatory-trained trumpet teacher based in Amsterdam. Alongside performing, I love teaching students of all ages and levels. Lessons can be taught in English.

Whether you're interested in classical music, jazz, pop, funk, hip-hop, salsa or improvisation, we can tailor the lessons to your interests, level and musical goals. The music that inspires you most will motivate you most to play every day!

Good technique is important, but making music should be enjoyable. That's why we work with music that inspires you and helps you develop as a musician.

Trumpet Lessons for Children

Children can usually start learning trumpet at around the age of 7. For younger children, the cornet can be a great alternative. It is slightly smaller and lighter than the trumpet, while the playing technique is very similar. Through playful exercises, a structured method and music that suits your child, we build a strong foundation step by step. 
Most importantly, I want children to enjoy making music and feel confident as they learn.

Trumpet for Beginners

Never played trumpet before? Picking up the trumpet after a long break? No problem. We'll start from the basics and gradually develop your breathing, posture, technique and sound.

Already have some experience? 

Then we can focus on the areas you want to improve, whether that's your technique, tone, repertoire, improvisation or overall musical expression. Perhaps you'd like to become a more confident jazz player, prepare for an audition or conservatory entrance exam, or simply take your playing to the next level. We'll create lessons around your goals.

Improvisation & Jazz

Improvisation can seem intimidating at first, but it is absolutely something you can learn. We'll take it step by step, working with chords, scales, jazz harmony and the analysis and transcription of solos by trumpet players you admire. You'll learn how to turn musical ideas into your own improvisations and gradually develop greater freedom and confidence when you play.
The goal isn't simply to learn the theory,  it's to help you find your own musical voice.

Book a Trial Lesson

A trial lesson is a great way to meet, play some music and get a feel for my teaching style. Bring a piece of music you enjoy playing, or simply play something from memory.  I'd also love to hear what kind of music you listen to and what you'd like to learn. You'll leave the lesson with some practical tips to work on, and if you're looking for an instrument, I'm happy to advise you on choosing a trumpet. If you're a complete beginner, that's absolutely fine too, I'll have a trumpet ready for you to try. 

Where Do the Lessons Take Place?

I teach from my private studio in Amsterdam Oost. Would you prefer to have lessons at home? That's possible too. Home lessons have a minimum duration of 45 minutes.

About Me

I grew up in Kazakhstan and discovered music at the age of five. My father introduced me to lots of different kinds of music, and I was fascinated from the beginning. After starting with piano lessons, I soon became captivated by the trumpet — and before long, I discovered jazz.

Bachelor's and Master's Degree

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Classical and Jazz Trumpet at the National Academy of Arts in Kazakhstan, where I studied with Professor Zhurgerov. I then continued my studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where I completed my Master's degree.

Concerts

Alongside teaching, I regularly perform at concerts and festivals in the Netherlands and abroad, working in a wide range of ensembles — from classical orchestras to jazz bands and everything in between.

My own musical influences are equally diverse.

Trumpet players such as Clark Terry, Arturo Sandoval, Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Chet Baker, Roy Hargrove and Miles Davis continue to inspire me. I also enjoy discovering new artists and music together with my students.
