Flute Lessons Delft - All Styles
Hello! My name is Gaspar Polo. I’m a professional flutist, and an enthusiastic and patient flute teacher in Delft. I love exploring other styles apart from classical music, and have often surprised my own teachers by playing folk music, or songs by Jethro Tull, for instance. Feel free to share your musical tastes with me, I believe that the flute can work in any style!
All Ages and Levels
I give flute lessons to children teenagers and adults , beginner to advanced level. My lessons are known for a relaxed atmosphere in which mistakes are allowed and never frowned upon, as I consider them a fundamental part of the learning process.
Trial Lesson
The trial lesson is a fun way to get acquainted, to experience my teaching style and to discuss your wishes. Nice to hear what music you prefer and what your goals are. Let's find a date for a trial lesson!
Flute Lessons at your Home
I prefer to give the flute lessons in the comfort of your own home in Delft, Delfgauw, Ypenburg, Pijnacker, Nootdorp or Rijswijk.
Flute Lessons Beginners
Flute is not too hard to learn, but to become a good flutist, it takes some practice. We start with a relaxed posture and breathing technique, tone production, easy melodies and fun etudes. Enjoy my clear instructions and personalised excersises.
Learn to read Sheet Music
It's important to learn how to read music notes for flute as soon as you can. If you can read sheet music, it is easier to learn new melodies and play the tunes you like most!
Flute Duets - Beginner to Advanced
We have a huge duet collection, from classical, romantic to pouplar and world famous composers. Is fun to play and will provide educationally interesting tunes for sight reading.
Duet playing is maybe your first form of ensemble experience and offers technique, tone quality, timing, intonation, dynamics and balance.
Music Theory
To me, understanding how the music is built is fundamental to be able to enjoy it yourself, and to convey its meaning to the listener. During the lessons, we will analyse whatever music you’re playing to really understand its meaning and the intention of the composer.
Baroque Music and Flute
I’m specialised in 18th century repertoire, which I usually play on various historical flutes, but also on the modern flute. If you’re looking for some guidance as to how to approach the music from this time, I can definitely help you with all matters relating to style, such as articulation, phrasing, ornamentation, vibrato, intonation, understanding of basso continuo, etc.
Chamber Music
Do you have an ensemble and would you like to take it to the next level? I will help you with lots of exercises to train your rhythm, intonation, sound, and communication as a group. I will help you analyse the pieces you are playing to really make them your own.
About Me
I studied my bachelor’s degree in modern flute at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Tilburg, with Valerie Debaele and Edith van Dyck. After graduating, I decided to pursue my love for historical flutes by studying a master’s degree at the Early Music department of the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, under the guidance of Kate Clark and Wilbert Hazelzet.
I also received lessons and masterclasses from world-renowned teachers and performers such as Emily Beynon, Juliette Hurel, Erik Bosgraaf, Richard Egarr. I perform with diverse ensembles at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, the Concertzaal Theaters Tilburg, the Oude Kerk and the Nieuwe Kerk in Delft, the Cathedral of Salamanca (Spain), and many others.
I'm very active with my ensemble Celeritas, with which I explore baroque repertoire for traverso and violin with, and without, basso continuo. I also collaborate with composers regularly and premieres new pieces for solo flute.
