Flute Lessons in Delft
Hello, my name is Anežka Drozdová and I'm a professional flutist and enthusiastic flute teacher. I currently live in The Hague, but I can also give lessons at your home in Delft, Delfgauw, Ypenburg, Pijnacker, Nootdorp, or Rijswijk.
All ages welcome?
Yes, absolutely! I give flute lessons to children, teenagers, and adults. We tailor the music to your age and preferences!
What can you expect?
Good breathing technique is the foundation of your sound, so that's the first step! You'll quickly master reading music and basic skills, and after a while you'll be playing your first classical or popular melodies! We have lots of music that sounds beautiful on the flute.
In love with the sound of the flute?
Are you charmed by the warm, singing sound of the flute, but not sure if it's the right choice for you? Simply sign up for a trial lesson and see what you think.
Don't have an instrument yet?
I can also help you choose a flute if you don't have one or are looking for a better one.
Why a trial lesson?
Sharing music is something deeply personal—by playing, you somehow discover your inner world and give something from the heart. I believe it's important to offer a safe, friendly, and open space where you can find and develop your musical identity and your joy in music.
From beginners to advanced
I have over ten years of teaching experience. Whether you're just beginning to discover the magic of the flute or are already learning virtuoso repertoire, I'm happy to help.
Classical to pop music
I specialise in classical music and historical performance practice, but I'm open to any genre or style you enjoy—from pop music or jazz to film melodies.
What do we do in class?
- Warm-up exercises to develop your tone,
- Embouchure and breathing technique,
- Reviewing scales and chords,
- Playing etudes with various musical or technical challenges,
- And above all, let's enjoy real pieces of music on your music stand!
Playing Together
Making music together is not only a lot of fun and an important skill, but it's also a great tool for naturally learning musical phrasing and intuitively developing your tone, flexibility, and richness of color.
How?
Simply by listening to and interacting with your fellow player!
Duets! A tremendous luxury!
As a flutist, we have the luxury of countless fantastic duos for two flutes! When playing flute duets, you feel immediately supported by the sound and musical phrasing of the other voice.
Piano Accompaniment
I can also accompany you with a piano or harpsichord for even more fun in the lesson!
Music Theory
Whether you want to learn the basics of music or delve deeper into musical styles or analysis of the piece you're playing, we can find a way to do that during our lessons.
Online Lessons
If your work or study schedule doesn't allow for in-person meetings, online lessons can also be a good option. In my experience, they can be effective, especially when combined with live lessons. The most important thing is whether you enjoy it, feel comfortable, and are motivated.
Chamber Music
If you enjoy playing with friends and are looking for someone who can regularly help your group develop their ensemble sound, build camaraderie, and work on various chamber music repertoires, you can also request lessons with me.
About Me
I am a Czech professional flutist on modern and historical flutes. I originally studied modern flute with Václav Kunt at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno and received my MgA. and Ph.D. degrees in 2018. in September 2024.
Early Music
My passion for historical music brought me to the Netherlands to study with Kate Clark and Wilbert Hazelzet at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where I received my master's degree in June 2025.
Concerts
I have performed regularly with leading Czech orchestras (such as the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, Czech Virtuosi, Virtuosi Brunnenses, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra) and with various international ensembles specializing in historical performance practice (Bach Consort Nijkerk, Concerto d'Amsterdam, and Accademia Amsterdam).
Chamber Music
I enjoy playing chamber music and am a co-founder of the ensembles Polychroma (traverso, Baroque violin, Baroque cello, and harpsichord), Ensemble de Cour (voice, traverso, and theorbo), and Filigree (a Renaissance flute consort).
What teaching means to me
For me, teaching is simply passing on what I've learned from my teachers: the joy of making music. I love the interaction and exchange with my students, and the challenges of helping everyone find their unique path to music.
