Hi, I'm Rene Sommer, professional trumpet player and enthusiastic and motivating trumpet teacher in The Hague and Rijswijk. Looking for a friendly and  patient teacher for yourself or for your child? I enjoy teaching to both children and adults, all levels welcome!

Beginner - Advanced Trumpet Lessons

Whether you are just getting started on the trumpet, or are an advanced player looking to develop your sound, technique  and improvisation skills; I will develop a personalised lesson plan tailored to your abilities and goals.

Trial Lesson

During your trial lesson we will get to know each other, discuss your goals, the flexibel lesson packs, lesson times, frequency and duration of your lessons and you will get a first impression of the way of working.

Classical - Jazz - Funky - Pop - Salsa

The trumpet and the fluegelhorn both allow you to play many music styles with a funky, jazzy or classical sound.  I come from a diverse background of playing jazz, salsa, classical funk and pop, and enjoy teaching the fundamentals of music theory and trumpet technique through music that moves you the most.

Trumpet Lessons - Improvisation

Improvisation can be learned and step by step You'll feel more confident. You'll learn the blues scale and other scales. In addition to boosting your improvisational skills, practising this scale will also help you train your ear so you can learn new bluesy licks to incorporate into your playing.

All Brass Instruments

There are many technical aspects that come into play when studying the trumpet or any other brass instrument. From breathing to posture, mouth and tongue position, flexibility and finger dexterity. With all this in mind, it's sometimes difficult to remember that the first priority is making music and having fun!
