Professional Vocal Coaching with a Personalised Approach

I am Laura van der Voort, a professional vocalist and vocal coach based in Rotterdam. I teach Pop, R&B, Soul, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Rock, Latin and Musical Theatre, as well as Songwriting and Stage Performance.

What can You expect from a Lesson?

With a focused, step-by-step approach, you  will master your vocal technique and develop your musicality and expression. You will learn how to use your voice more freely and effectively, while developing stability, control, flexibility, and ease, growing confidence and individuality as a singer.

Singing Lessons for Adults and Teenagers

Lessons are available for everyone aged 11 and up. Beginners and advanced singers are welcome.
Who can take these lessons?

• Everybody who wants to learn to sing because they simply enjoy singing 
• Singers who want more freedom, control or power in their voice
• Experienced singers who want to refine their technique

The lessons are also for:

• Band-, and choir singers who want to sing more efficiently and develop healthy vocal technique 
• Singers preparing for auditions, entrance exams or performances
• Singer-songwriters developing their own songs and artistic identity

Technique meets expression

Good technique allows you to sing with less effort and more expression. Alongside vocal technique, we work on interpretation, emotion, timing, groove and performance. Because singing is essentially about telling a story

Songwriting and Stage Performance

Would you like to develop and work on your own original songs? Feel more confident on stage? I can support you with the songwriting proces and the development of your artistic identity, drawing on my own experience as a songwriter and performing artist.

Vocal Method & Studies

I began my vocal studies with Mildred Aikema, a renowned singing teacher who based her vocal method on the importance of developing a strong, natural resonance in the mask. 
I studied Vocal Performance in Popular Music at the Rotterdam Conservatory and graduated as a performing and teaching musician. I then continued my vocal training exploring other methods like the Estill Voice Training (EVT) and the Lichtenberg Method.

American Gospel Vocal Techniques

In the mean time I have specialised in this approach, based on the use of the natural calling voice, to create a powerful, free and expressive sound. I draw from different approaches to find out what works best for your voice, your goals and the music you want to sing.

My experience as a singer, performer and singing teacher

I have a wealth of experience as a vocalist, vocal coach and teacher across a wide range of contemporary styles. I have taught private lessons and workshops at music schools, choirs and theatre groups, including Jeugdtheater Hofplein, Havo voor Muziek en Dans and Rotterdam Conservatory.

Laura D Rhyme

As a singer and performing artist, under my artist name Laura D Rhyme, I perform(ed) live in the Netherlands and internationally with Soul, Funk, R&B and Jazz bands. 
I write and create my own music, currently I am working on a new R&B/Soul/Pop album.

Where do the lessons take place?

There are two locations in Rotterdam:

• Kralingen- Weteringstraat 275 (5 minutes' walk from Gerdesiaweg metro station)
• Rotterdam Noord - Agniesestraat 55c (10 minutes' walk from Rotterdam Centraal and Hofplein)
