Hey there, I'm João Lucas, professional music producer and bassist working across classical, indie, alternative, improvisation, and experimental music. My career bridges the worlds of high-level performance, studio engineering, and artistic exploration, helping musicians refine both their technical skills and creative voice.

My Approach

My production philosophy combines the precision of modern digital workflows with the character and unpredictability of analog tape. Rather than treating tape as a nostalgic medium, I use it as a creative instrument—experimenting with saturation, degradation, texture, and unconventional recording techniques to uncover unique sonic possibilities.

Studio & Logistics 

Sessions take place in my home studio in Voorhout, Leiden area, featuring professional microphones, preamps, audio interfaces, studio monitors, analog tape machines, and all the tools needed for high-quality production work.

On Location

One-hour sessions can also be arranged at your location. For production lessons outside my studio, you'll need a functional setup with an audio interface and a pair of studio monitors.
