Flute Lessons in Amsterdam IJburg
My name is Anastasia Vledouts, and I'm a flutist and music teacher based in Amsterdam IJburg. I teach both children and adults who want to begin, return to, or deepen their musical journey. My flute lessons are structured, personal, and focused on technical growth and musical expression.
For Parents of Young Musicians
Most children are naturally drawn to music--and the flute offers a beautiful and expressive entry point. The flute can be played from a young age. It is ideal to start flute lessons from about the age of 7. Children learn to play the flute in a playful way and will enjoy musical games and easy tunes!
Ensemble playing from the start
I work with a clear method that develops reading, listening, and musicality together. We build a strong foundation, with attention to tone, ensemble playing, and musical development from the start.
Adults - All Levels
Whether you're returning to the flute after many years or like to explore this beautiful instrument for the first time, you're welcome! Lessons are tailored to your level and interests. In a relaxed atmosphere we work purposefully, without haste, but with attention and fun on tone formation, breathing technique, musicality and repertoire. Music lessons are a meaningful investment in something you care about!
Advanced - Experience and Coaching
I've trained in four conservatories across Europe, attended dozens of masterclasses and summer schools, and participated in many international competitions. I know the expectations and pressures that come with high-level performance. If you're preparing for an audition, exam, concert or competition, I can offer focused, practical coaching--rooted in real experience.
The Flute in Today's Landscape
Most musical lessons are now private--and piano tends to dominate. That makes it even more important to show what other instruments - the flute as well - can offer. Its sound, range, and versatile repertoire make it a uniquely expressive instrument. In my teaching, I aim to make that richness accessible to each student.
Traverso & Historical Flutes
I also offer traverso lessons, with a focus on baroque style, interpretation, and historical context. If you're curious about historical flutes or period performance, this is a space to explore and refine. I can also help guide you if you're considering acquiring a traverso for the first time. Read more about music lessons on traverso in Amsterdam.
Location & Online Lessons
Lessons take place in my private studio in Amsterdam IJburg--a calm and well-equipped space for focused work. Online lessons are also possible, especially if you're outside the city or country. With high-quality sound equipment, online lessons remain clear and musically effective.
Trial Lesson
A trial lesson is the best way to get a feel for how I work. We'll discuss your goals, look at possible repertoire, and of course, make music. From there, you can decide whether this is the right path for you. I can give you advice, where to buy or rent a good flute for an affordable price, if you have no instrument, yet. Feel free to get in touch for more information and to schedule a trial session.
About Me
I am Anastasia, a freelance flutist from France, and I have been living in Amsterdam with my family for many years. I obtained my Bachelor's degrees in Versailles and Paris Conservatoria. I continued my further studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, under the guidance of Marten Root.
Expert
My passion for authentic performance practice has inspired me to specialise in historical flutes, so the flutes as they were made and played from XVI to XIX centuries.
I am a passionate teacher for a dozen years - both children and adults feel comfortable starting the flute with me. I have an active concert practice, but my current activities are mainly focussed on teaching.
