Hi, I'm Patrycja Skowronska, a Polish concert cellist and Cum Laude graduate of Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam. I offer inspiring cello lessons for children and adults in Rotterdam South. Whether you're picking up the cello for the very first time, returning after a break, or looking for professional guidance to take your playing to the next level, I'd love to help you on your musical journey.

Falling in Love with the Cello

I started playing the cello when I was six years old. From the very first lesson, I was captivated by its rich, warm sound. Discovering beautiful music through the cello sparked a lifelong passion that continues to inspire me every day. Today, nothing gives me more joy than sharing that passion with my students.

Cello Lessons for Children and Adults

I teach both children and adults, from complete beginners to advanced players. My lessons combine solid technical foundations with creativity and musical expression. Students develop a beautiful tone, build confidence, make steady progress, and, most importantly—enjoy making music. Every lesson is tailored to your goals, pace, and musical interests.

Learning Through Duets

Making music together is one of the most enjoyable and effective ways to learn. During our lessons we'll regularly play cello duets from a wide variety of musical styles and historical periods. Playing together develops rhythm, listening skills, intonation, and musical communication while making every lesson engaging and inspiring.

Cello Lessons for Children

Children are naturally fascinated by the cello and often fall in love with its unique sound. I create a positive, playful learning environment where young students learn to read music through simple classical pieces and familiar melodies. From the very beginning, they develop good posture, healthy technique, and confidence with both pizzicato and bowing. Most importantly, we make music together and have fun along the way.

Adult Beginners

It's never too late to learn the cello. Adult beginners enjoy lessons that combine beautiful repertoire with clear technical guidance. You'll learn to read music, build a strong foundation, and soon be playing your first classical pieces. We'll also play duets together, making every lesson musical and rewarding from the very beginning.

Advanced Cello Lessons

If you already play the cello and would like to improve your technique or feel more confident in an orchestra or ensemble, we'll focus on refining your playing through carefully selected exercises, études, orchestral excerpts, chamber music and solo repertoire.

Together we'll work on:

• Beautiful tone production
• Musical phrasing
• Articulation
• Bow technique
• Vibrato
• Shifting and position changes
• Thumb position

Using inspiring repertoire—from Bach, Vivaldi, Fauré and Frank Bridge to contemporary composers—you'll develop a warm, expressive sound with greater colour, flexibility and musical freedom.

Music Theory

Lessons can also include essential music theory, including key signatures, scales, the circle of fifths, rhythm, harmony and music reading, helping you become a more complete musician.

Student Concerts

Twice a year I organise an informal student concert where everyone has the opportunity to perform in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. These events are a wonderful way to gain confidence, meet fellow students and celebrate your musical progress together.

Depending on travel time and distance, a small travel fee may apply. We'll discuss this during your trial lesson.

About Me

I began my musical education at the State Music School in Olsztyn, Poland, where I built a strong foundation in cello performance, music theory and music history. Alongside participating in national and international competitions, I had the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Warmian-Masurian Philharmonic Orchestra.

I completed both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Codarts University of the Arts Rotterdam. I graduated Cum Laude, studying with Jeroen den Herder and Herre-Jan Stegenga.

Alongside teaching, I perform regularly in a variety of musical projects. I am a member of Smashed Wood Quartet, an ensemble that brings together different musical genres in innovative collaborations, and PLANKTON ORCHESTRA, an international collective of musicians exploring contemporary cross-genre performance and new musical sound worlds.
