There's always a lot to discuss before you start lessons. Therefore, it's a good idea to schedule a trial lesson to get acquainted.
What is Tanbur?
Tanbur is a stringed musical instrument with deep historical roots in Iran, dating back over a thousand years. The instrument is typically made of wood and features a long neck and a rounded body, with three strings, and is often linked to mystical music.
Origin
The region in which Tanbur is rooted is a region primarily located in the west part of Iran and is characterised by its mountainous terrain and rich cultural heritage. The instrument has evolved over the centuries, with variations in design and playing techniques, but it remains a symbol of Iran's rich musical heritage.
Here's what!
You will build your right and left-hand techniques, basic music theory for a better understanding of music, knowledge of Dastgahi Persian music, Radif (with Tar, Tanbur), and Makam music with Tanbur.

About Khorshid
Khorshid Dadbeh is an accomplished Iranian musician, specialising in the Tar, Tanbur, and Setar. Born in 1995 into an artistic family, she began her musical journey at an early age, learning to play the Setar alongside her father. She later pursued formal music education, first at the Conservatory of Tehran and then at the graduate level in Iran, where she honed her skills and deepened her understanding of traditional Persian music.
Professional career
Khorshid's professional career began at the age of sixteen when she joined the Shams Ensemble, marking the start of her extensive performance experience. Over the years, she has had the privilege of collaborating with renowned artists and musicians, participating in both national and international tours. Her growing reputation led to invitations to perform at major international festivals, including Le Guess Who? and Grauzone Festival,and more.
Master Degree
In pursuit of further musical development, Khorshid completed her master's degree at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where she expanded her artistic horizons. Khorshid also performs as part of a duo called Hamraaz, alongside a Duduk and Flute player, creating original compositions that blend Iranian and Armenian musical traditions. Currently, she continues to perform and compose music that fuses improvisation with the rich heritage of Iranian music while collaborating with international musicians to create cross-cultural exchanges.
