Hello! I'm Andrea Leone, enthusiastic, experienced saxophone teacher in Rotterdam Zuid. My passion for music and my love for the saxophone are the driving forces behind my teaching. 

Saxophone is cool!

Looking for saxophone lessons in Rotterdam area for your child or for yourself? My lessons are known for their relaxed atmosphere, practical tips, and lots of music, and you'll definitely go home feeling motivated! I strive to give you the best possible learning experience, so you can progress quickly and enjoy it.

All Ages welcome

From 2009, when I started teaching music and saxophone, I had students of almost any age from 6 to over 60 years old, both in my own private practice as well as for six years in a public middle school in Italy.

One Rule Only : Having Fun!

Playing music has to be fun, liberating, relaxing, rewarding and uplifting! My long experience as a teacher gives me the possibility to choose from many different teaching techniques and methodologies. What's the best for you? We will find out as soon as we meet!

Saxophone Lessons - Beginners 

You'll learn to play your favourite music right from the start. Lessons may cover basic music theory, reading sheet music, your first tunes. Having a beautiful sound is the most important thing (we chose the saxophone for its incredible sound, didn’t we?).

Classical, Jazz to Pop and Hip Hop

 Want to play pop hits, funky stuff, jazz standards or classical duets? That's all possible! We also can form an ensemble with other students or record your melodies or solos on a backing track!

Is improvising difficult?

Learning to improvise might feel a bit awkward and challenging at the same time. But I'll show you step by step what it's like and that you can learn it. You'll quickly make progress and feel increasingly free.

Saxophone Lessons - Advanced

We'll work on sound, flow, breathing technique, articulation, scales, Jazz harmony, triads, reading music, music theory, harmonics, double tones, improvisation in various styles.

Repertoire

About the rhythm Duke Ellington wrote a song called “It Don’t Mean a Thing If it Ain’t Got That Swing” (Bravo Duke!). Where to express your emotions with a great sound and groove if not on some beautiful tunes? We will build a repertoire together!

You will play a concert!

I organise student concerts twice a year. You'll have the chance to perform live for friends and relatives.  It’s a great opportunity to meet other saxophone players and walk on the stage like a professional musician!

The saxophone lessons take place at my studio in Rotterdam Zuid.

About Andrea Leone

Italian saxophone player Andrea graduated with full marks both at Conservatoire “G.B. Martini” (Bologna) in 2009, obtaining a Master Degree in Classical Saxophone and at Conservatoire “G. Puccini”, obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Jazz Saxophone. 

Rotterdam

He then moved to Rotterdam, in 2017, where he studied at Codarts with some of the best dutch jazz players such as Tineke Postma, Ben van den Dungen, Simon Rigter, Nils van Haften. 

Studies

During the last decade he was lucky enough to study with some of the greatest world musicians such as Mark Turner, George Garzone, Enrico Rava, Rick Margitza, Seamus Blake, Ben Wendel, Miguel Zenon, Ambrose Akinmusire, Aaron Goldberg, and many more.

Artist

He played and record with extraordinary musicians such as Danilo Gallo, Reinier Baas, Stefan Lievestro, Yamandu Costa and played in numerous important festivals and jazz clubs around Europe: North Sea Jazz Festival, Otis Park Festival, International Jazz Rotterdam, Gezmataz Festival, Barga Jazz, Jazz-Rally Dusseldorf, De Doelen, Lantarenvenster, Dizzy Jazz Club, Bird and many more.

Projects

Andrea is currently part of many different projects based both in the Netherlands and in Italy. He is performing regularly in the jazz clubs of Rotterdam, Den Haag and Amsterdam. You can easily bump into him in one of those clubs during a concert or a late night jam session!
