Want to dive into the world of ornaments, gut strings and instrumental music of 17th century from Slovenia and Croatia ? Curious to know more about the performance practice of that period? Let's arrange a trial lesson!
You'll be encouraged to make music from the very first day. Together with some necessary music theory, always applied to the instrument, you'll learn pieces of gradual difficulty. We make use of progressive tuition methods and you'll learn a solid technique by playing scales, bowing and fingering exercises and easy tunes to begin with. Repertoire includes etudes, playful and challenging concert pieces and from the very beginning duos to play with the me!
Any piece you play should have dialogue, story telling, constant exploring, depth and joy. I will be encouraging you to learn sonatas, chamber music and concertos with accompaniment of a pianist. I am a Slovenian musician and violinist born in Postojna. I live in Amsterdam since 2011, where I graduated from BA classical violin with teachers Ilya Grubert and Kees Koelmans. In July 2019 I graduated with distinction at ESMUC in Barcelona under the guidance of Emilio Moreno in historical violin performance. Currently, I am dedicating my time to researching the instrumental music of 17th century Slovenia and Croatia and the performance practice of that period.
I am a freelance musician playing with various orchestras and ensembles in the Netherlands and abroad, such as Concerto d'Amsterdam, Corelli Collective, Philharmonia Amsterdam, NASKA (Nationaal Symfonisch Kamerorkest), Het Promenade Orkest, Eik&Linde Ensemble, Odyssee Ensemble, Antiphonus etc.
I have two chamber groups, a beautiful string quartet called Belvedere String Quartet with Ukranian-dutch violinist Julia Rusanovsky, Portuguese violist Sofia Espiga Fonseca and Argentinian cellist Melina Montes. We are active mostly in the Netherlands, playing approx. 100 concerts per year.In 2019 we have formed a baroque ensemble, mostly playing early 17th century Italian and Spanish repertoire, an ensemble called La Voz Humana with Indonesian theorbo/lute/guitar player Punto Bawono, Israeli recorder/basson/dulcian player Galit Zadok and Mexican violone player Valeria Sanchez.
I am currently playing on a beautiful violin from Klotz school, Mittenwald from ca. 1780.
