About Johannes

Johannes Fend moved to the Netherlands from Austria to study Jazz and classical Music at the Prins Claus conservatory in Groningen and later do his master degree in Rotterdam.

During his time as a student Johannes was fortunate to get to study and play with musicians out of the New York Jazz scene such as David Berkman, Paul Berner, Matt Wilson, Todd Coolman, Alex Sipiagin and many more.
Johannes took classical bass lessons and participated in master classes with Sorin Orcinschi, Francisco Obieta, Catalin Rotaru, Dorin Marc, Matthew Midgley and Wolfgang Guttler.

Johannes is a very active musician and part of various bands.
For his solo Project, he won the 2nd Price at the “Il Sole In Cantina Award 2016”. Recently he won also 1st price at “Leiden Jazz Award 2017” with “Marco Apicella Trio”, the price for the best solist at “Erasmus Jazz Price 2017” and in November 2017 he was invited to play at the international Choro Festival in New York City.
