Do you have a love for classical music or have you been curious about the baroque style you've heard so often on the radio and in concerts? Perhaps you have a desire to jump into a more "modern" genre? Also a big treat to play! 

All Ages Welcome

I'm Utrecht based flute teacher Kristen Huebner, I give lessons on both the "modern" and baroque flutes to children, teenagers and adults.

Classical to Pop

In love with classical music? Would you prefer a more modern approach? I'm no stranger to pop, jazz and rock music. The lesson is always tailored to your specific musical interests, whether they are in line with classical studies or venture a bit further into other genres like baroque, jazz or pop. The basis of learning any instrument, in any style or genre, is technique.

What do we do in the Lesson?

In our lessons, you will learn, amongst other things, technical studies, breathing exercises, scales, chords, legato, staccato, dynamics, as well as expanding your musicality with performance pieces suited to your current level and interests.

Beginner to advanced

Whether you are an absolute beginner and wish to learn reading music and play your first tunes on the flute, or you have already played the flute before and wish to take it back up again, both personal attention and a cosy, welcoming atmosphere will make for both a relaxing and instructive lesson.

Mark Your Progress

You will be able to clearly mark your progress, enabling you to become motivated with each and every lesson. Personal attention is key to honing your technique and fostering a passion for the music we aspire to make together.

Traverse Lessons

Playing Together - Flute Duos

Music making is in the end what it's all about! The best way to do this, and not to mention the most historical of all pedagogical practices, is to play together! Our entire flute repertoire is filled with duets for 2 flutes, a perfect opportunity to develop your sound, breathing and overall technique.

Ensemble - Orchestra

You will also get support when working on solo repertoire or orchestral excerpts, and even further fun begins when you wish to form a small ensemble to explore chamber music. So great to make music together!

Piano Accompaniment

Yes, I do accompany my students on the piano and sometimes the clavecimbel. Piano was my first instrument since the age of 8!

About Kristen Huebner

Originally from the United States, Kristen Huebner now bases her musical life in the Netherlands and Europe. An avid specialist of the baroque flute, Kristen holds both Bachelors and Masters Diplomas from the Utrecht Conservatory (BM) and The Royal Conservatory of The Hague (MM), where she studied with Wilbert Hazelzet & Kate Clark.

She has toured Europe with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Ton Koopman and has collaborated alongside members of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century with Frans Bruggen. A passionate chamber musician dedicated to reviving pre-classical repertoire, Kristen is the co-founder of The Primary Sources alongside fortepianist Lucie de Saint Vincent.

CD

Her work with the Paris-based Ensemble Diderot has led to a CD recording of the Mondonville Sonatas, recently released on Audax Records in October 2016
Performing in both professional baroque orchestras and chamber music ensembles throughout Europe, Kristen also improvises with her own pop/rock trio 'The Pix'.
